Alive to God

Romans 6

Sin does not reign in my mortal body. I have died to sin, therefore, how can I who has died to sin live in it any longer. I am baptized into Christ; I have been baptized into his death.  I have been buried, therefore, with him by baptism into death, in order that, just as Christ was raised from the dead by the glory of the Father, I too can walk in newness of life.  Thank you, Father, that today I walk in newness of life.

Since I have been united with Jesus, the Christ, in a death like His, I shall certainly be united with Him in a resurrection like his. My old self was crucified with Him, so that I am no longer enslaved to sin. For one who has died has been set free from sin.  Now I believe that since I have died with Christ, I will also live with Him. So, I reckon myself dead to sin and alive to God in Christ Jesus.

Guard the Presence

2 Timothy 2

I bow before you, God, my Father. I confess and acknowledge that you are the blessed and only sovereign, the King of Kings, and Lord of Lords, who alone has immortality, who dwells in unapproachable light, who no one has ever seen or can see.  To you be honor and eternal dominion. Amen! You give life to all things, Father.

Today by your grace and through the presence of Jesus Christ in me, I pursue righteousness, godliness, faith, love, steadfastness, and gentleness. I fight the good fight of faith.  I take hold of eternal life to which I was called and about which I have a good confession. I pray today that by the grace of the Lord Jesus and the presence of the Holy Spirit I will keep the commandments unstained and free from reproach until the appearing of the Lord Jesus Christ.  I guard the presence of God in me. I avoid irreverent babble and foolish ideas falsely called “knowledge”.

Endure

2 Timothy 2

Today, thank you, Lord, I am strengthened by the grace that is in Christ Jesus. Lord, give me understanding in everything that I may be useful to you.  I look forward to each and every one of your elect obtaining the salvation that is in Christ Jesus with eternal glory.

“If I have died with him, I will also live with him. If endure, I will also reign with him.”

I do not quarrel about words, which does no good, but only ruins the hearers. I do my best to present myself to God as one approved, a worker who has no need to be ashamed, who rightly handles the word of truth.  I avoid irreverent babble for it leads to more and more ungodliness and spreads like gangrene. God’s firm foundation stands. The Lord knows those that are his. Let everyone who names the name of the Lord depart from iniquity.

Honorable Use

2 Timothy 2

In the great house there are not only vessels of gold and silver but also wood and clay, some for honorable use and some for dishonorable. I have certainly been a vessel of wood or clay with such a selfish and sinful beginning. But now, praise God, you, Father, have called me and cleansed me.  By your grace and your word, I am cleansed from the dishonorable use and set apart as holy, useful to my master, ready for every good work.

I flee youthful passions and pursue righteousness, faith, love, and peace along with those who call on the Lord with a pure heart. I have nothing to do with foolish, ignorant controversies. I know they breed quarrels. I am the Lord’s servant, and I must not be quarrelsome, but kind, able to teach, patiently enduring evil, correcting opponents with gentleness, hoping that you, Father, will grant them repentance leading to the knowledge of the truth.  Hoping they may come to their senses and escape from the snare of the devil after being captured to do his will.

Lord, I know

Romans 6; 2 Timothy 2, 3, & 4

Lord, I know I have an enemy who desires to ensnare me. I know the areas of “bait” he uses. Lord, I recognize and confess that I am weak and suspect in those areas. So today I reckon myself dead to (list your particular weak area where you are prone to sin. Be specific).  By your grace today I have no desire or draw to those things. I am tempered against those desires and thoughts. I recognize them as traps, as lures to bondage. Sin messes stuff up.

I am pleased and very content with the “life” you have given me, Lord. I focus on my contentment with you, and I am thankful to you and desire to be holy and set apart for your use.

I am filled with your presence, and I am led by your spirit every moment of every day. Keep charge of me, Lord. I am your man, and by your grace I am complete in Christ, equipped for every good work.  Lord, see that I fight a good fight, finish the race, and keep the faith.

Eye Witness

1 John 1

The apostle John is an eyewitness. He saw you, Father, through the Lord Jesus from the very beginning. He says, “he heard, and he saw”. He looked upon and touched with his hands; he knew somehow it, He, Jesus the Christ, was divine life made manifest.  He saw it and testified to it and proclaimed that it is eternal life from God, the heavenly Father, and this life was made manifest to him as a disciple of Jesus, the Christ.

Lord God, John, your witness saw the life, and he proclaims it to me so that I also may have fellowship with the apostles, and fellowship with you, my heavenly Father, and with your son, Christ Jesus.

I know these things and my joy is complete. The message is that you, Father, are light and in you there is no darkness at all.  By your grace and presence in me, I walk in the light and have fellowship with you, almighty God, and with your son, and with your many other children.

Blinded Eyes

1 John 2

The old commandment that I have had from the beginning is the same as the new commandment. It is all the “word” that I have heard. I see it manifest perfectly in the Lord Jesus, and I see glimpses of the word, Jesus, the Christ, manifested in the apostles, and sometimes I have even seen the Lord manifested in me.

Jesus states the old and new commandment, “you are to love the Lord our God with all your heart, soul, mind and strength and to love your neighbor as yourself.” John explains that loving my brother shows that I walk in the light, and not loving shows I am in darkness.

When I am in darkness I do not know where I am going because darkness has blinded my eyes. When I stay angry with the brethren I am being (choosing to be) blind. I am not seeing the whole picture; the word is not abiding in me, and I am being overcome by evil.

Rescued

2 Timothy 4 & Colossians 3

Today, Father, by your grace and with your Holy Spirit, I am sober minded. I patiently endure suffering. I do the work you have for me. I fulfill my ministry. I am poured out as a drink offering; the timing of my life is completely in your hands.

I fight the good fight; I run the race in Christ; I keep the faith. Henceforth there is laid up for me the crown of righteousness which my Lord, the righteous judge, will award to me on that day and not only to me, but also to all who have loved his appearing.

So, whatever I do, I do it heartily as for the Lord and not for men, knowing that from the Lord I will receive the inheritance as my reward, for I serve the Lord Christ.

My Lord rescues me from every evil deed and brings me safely to his heavenly kingdom.

Today I Sing

Psalm 27

Today I sing and make melody to you, Lord. You, oh Lord, are my light and my salvation. You, oh Lord, are the stronghold of my life. My heart does not fear.

One thing I ask, one thing I do, is to seek after you, Lord. I seek to dwell in your house, oh Lord, all the days of my life. I gaze upon your beauty and listen to your ways and word.

You hide me, Lord, in your shelter. You conceal me; you lift me high upon the rock. Teach me your way, oh Lord, and lead me on a level path. I believe I shall look upon your goodness, Lord, in the land of the living! I wait for you, Lord. By your grace I am strong, and my heart takes courage. I wait for you, Lord. My heart sings.

Joy Comes

Psalms 30, 32, & 33

In you, oh Lord, I take refuge. You are a rock of refuge for me, a strong fortress to save me. You are my rock and my fortress. You lead me and guide me. You take me out of the net. Into your hands I commit my spirit. You have redeemed me, oh Lord, faithful God.

I extol you, oh Lord, for you have drawn me up. I cry for help and you have healed me. You restored me to life. I sing praises to you, oh Lord, and give thanks to your holy name. Weeping may tarry for the night but for your children joy comes with the morning.

You instruct me and teach me in the way I should go. You counsel me as I see you. Your word, oh Lord, is upright and all your works are done in faithfulness. You love righteousness and justice.  The earth is full of your steadfast love, oh Lord, my God, and my redeemer.
