In That Way

John 14&15

I love you, Lord Jesus, and I keep my eyes on your word. I know that you and the father love me, and that you fill me and dwell with me. I am filled with your Holy Spirit who teaches me what I need to know, and who reminds me of all that you have said to me.

In that way I am filled with peace; divine peace that never passes away. Not peace like the world gives. So, my heart is not troubled, and I am not afraid.

You are the true vine, Lord Jesus, and God, our father, is the vine dresser. I am a branch of the vine. Your word has cleaned me and pruned me so that I will bear the fruit of your Holy Spirit.

I abide in you, Lord Jesus, and you abide in me. In that way I bear much fruit – eternal fruit that lasts and suits the will of our father and glorifies him.

No Longer

Psalm 1

I am a blessed man, father. I am blessed by your mercy and grace with salvation through Jesus Christ, my Lord. I no longer walk in the council of the ungodly nor stand in the way of sinners nor do I sit in the seat of the scornful.

Instead, I delight in you and in your word, father. I meditate on your word and commune with you day and night.

I am like a tree planted by the rivers of water. I bring forth my fruit in season. My leaf does not wither, and whatever I do prospers.

The ungodly may rage, and they may plot vain things. “Kings” set themselves up, and rulers council together against your anointed, father, but you sit in heaven and laugh. You hold them in derision. You speak to them in wrath and deep displeasure.

You adopt me out of this world as your son and give me an inheritance through Christ, you’re only begotten son. I put my trust in you, Father, Son, and Holy Ghost, and I am blessed.

Into the World

John 10&11

Lord Jesus, I hear your voice, and I know you, and I follow you. You give me eternal life, and I shall never perish, and no one can ever snatch me out of your hand.

God, our father, has given me to you, and he is greater than all, and no one is able to snatch me out of our father’s hand. You and our father are one. I know you, and I believe that our father is in you, and that you are in our father.

I hear your voice. You call me by name, and I follow you. I have entered the kingdom of God by you, Lord Jesus, and I am saved. I find pasture as I go through this life; me hidden in you and you hidden in me. You give me life, and you give it to me abundantly.

You, Lord Jesus, are the resurrection and the life. I believe in you, and though I may appear to die, I shall live. Since I live and believe in you, I shall never die.

You, Lord Jesus, are the Christ. You have come into the world to save me from my sin and to give me divine life. I receive you with gladness and thanksgiving.

To Dwell and To Walk

2 Corinthians 6&7

Father, you promise to dwell in me and to walk with me. You are my God, and I am your child. I have come up out of the world and have begun to separate myself from those that hate you.

I work with my renewed mind to stay clean of worldliness. You tell me that you are my father, and I am your son.

With those promises I cleanse myself from all filthiness of the flesh and the spirit. Your holiness is perfected in me as I fear your disappointment.

I am filled with comfort and encouragement despite the foolishness and temptations of this world around me. Outside there are conflicts. Inside anxiety cries out. Nevertheless, you Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, comfort me with your word, your presence, and your people.

Able to Keep

Like 19; 1 Corinthians 6; Colossians 3; John 14; 2 Timothy 1; 1 Timothy 6

Good morning, Lord Jesus. You are my Lord and Savior. You are the Messiah sent by God, my father, to seek me and to save me. I belong to you. I have been bought with a price. I am no longer my own.

You, Lord, dwell in me now through the person of your Holy Spirit. You commune with me, and you teach, and show, and convict, and encourage me. My mind is renewed, and my soul is saved.

I do not have a spirit of fear but of power and of love and of a sound mind. Your gospel, Lord, has saved me and called me to a holy calling.

I know whom I have believed, and I am persuaded that you, Lord Jesus, are able to keep all that I have committed unto you, until your day.

I live in godliness with contentment. I realize I brought nothing into this world, and it is certain I will carry nothing out. Therefore, I do not chase after money for I know money is a fickle mistress.

Instead, I pursue righteousness, godliness, faith, love, patience, and gentleness. I fight the good fight of faith. I lay hold on eternal life to which I am called.

The True Bread from Heaven

John 6

Lord Jesus, your words are spirit, and they are life. I am thankful that God, our father, has granted to me that I can come to you. I have come to you, and I know that there is no way that you will cast me out.

You are the true bread from heaven. You are the bread of heaven sent down by God, our father, and you give life to the world. You give the food that endures to everlasting life. God, our father has set his seal on you.

You, Lord Jesus, have the words of eternal life. By your grace I have come to believe and to know that you are the Christ, the son of the living God.

The words you speak are spirit, and they are life. I feed on your flesh and blood. These are spiritual things that give everlasting life, not actual “flesh” things that profit nothing.

In this “feeding process” I abide in you, Lord Jesus, and you abide in me. You are the living bread, and I partake of all you give me liberally.

Glory Forever

Matthew 16, John 6, Colossians 1

Lord Jesus, I believe you are the Christ, the Son of the living God. I set my mind today on the things of God. I follow after you, Lord Jesus. I deny myself. I take up my cross, and I follow you.

I believe you are the one who God, the father, has sent. You are the living bread that came down from heaven. I feed on you, and I live forever. You give your life for me, and through your life, I have eternal life.

These words are spirit and life. It is the Spirit who gives life, and the flesh is no help at all. Lord, I love you and praise you for you have the words of eternal life.

Lord Jesus, you are the very essence of the invisible God. You are preeminent in all of creation. You created all things in heaven and on earth. All things were created through you and for you. You are before all things, and in you all things hold together.

In you all the fullness of God is pleased to dwell, and through you, I am reconciled to God, my father. Through you, Lord Jesus, I have come to know the great riches of the glory of God’s divine mystery, which is Christ in me, the sure hope of glory forever.
