Obedient To You

2 Thessalonians 2&3

Hallelujah, Father, you are the God of Peace, and you give me peace always and in every way. You, Lord, are within me.

Thank you, Father, that from the beginning you chose me for salvation through sanctification by your Spirit and belief in the truth. You called me by your gospel to receive the glory of the person of the Lord Jesus Christ. Therefore, I stand fast and hold on to all that you have taught me through your preaching and your word.

I thank you, Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, that you love me and give me everlasting consolation and good hope through your grace. You comfort my heart, and you establish me in every good word and work.

Lord, you are sovereign and perfectly able. I pray your word would run swiftly around this world and that you, Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, would be glorified, and your people would be delivered from unreasonable and wicked people.

Thank you that by your will and power, I am established, and you guard me from the evil one. And in every instance and circumstance I am obedient to you.

Very Present

1 Thessalonians 5

Lord God, you are faithful, and you will do all you promise to do. You have called me to you. You did not appoint me to your wrath, rather you elected me to obtain your salvation through the Lord Jesus Christ.

Now, in Christ, I am comforted and edified by your word, and by your presence, and by your teachers, and by the brethren you place in my life. I esteem others highly for their work and for their love for you, Father, and for their fellowship. I pursue what is good for myself and for all of us.

I rejoice always. I pray without ceasing, and in everything, I give thanks, for this is your will for me, Father, in Christ Jesus.

I welcome you, Holy Spirit, into my mind and heart. I love and listen expectantly to your word. I check every thought and plan against your word. I stick with what is good. I stay away from evil and corrupt and distracting.

And you, the God of Peace, by your very present Spirit in me, sanctify me completely, and my whole spirit, soul, and body are preserved blameless at the coming of my Lord Jesus Christ. You are Almighty God, and you do it.

Exceeding Greatness

Acts 20; Ephesians 1

Thank you, Father, that I am yours. I belong to you through the word of your grace which builds me up and grants me an inheritance among the saints.

For by the grace of Jesus Christ, I heard your word, the gospel of my salvation, and I believed. Now I have been sealed by your Holy Spirit of promise who is the guarantee of my inheritance until your appointed time for the redemption of your purchased possession to the praise of your glory.

Now, through your word and your presence dwelling in me, I have your spirit of wisdom and revelation in the knowledge of you and in communion with you.

The eyes of my understanding are enlightened. I know the hope I have of your calling on my life, and I begin to see more and more the riches of the glory of the inheritance that I have, through you, among the saints.

I see the exceeding greatness of your power toward your people, your mighty power that you worked in Christ Jesus when you raised him (and me with him) from the dead.

Turned Upside Down

1 Corinthians 6; Acts 16&17

By your grace, Father, I am washed and sanctified and justified in the name of the Lord Jesus and by your Holy Spirit. I belong to you, Father. I have been bought with a price, and I am no longer my own.

I believe on the Lord Jesus, and I have been baptized. I am saved. My world is turned upside down. I receive your word with joy and confidence. I search your scriptures diligently.

Father, I know that you made the world and everything in it. You are Lord of heaven and earth. You do not dwell in temples made of hands. You are not worshiped by my flesh as if you needed anything that I could do.

It is you and you alone, Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, who give life and breath and all things to your creation. You have determined all those who are yours, Lord, and you have appointed times and boundaries for each of us.

I seek you, Lord, and I find you. I have eternal, divine communion with you, Father, through Jesus, your son. You fill me with your presence, and in you, through Christ, I live and move and have my being.

One of Your Many

Romans 8; 1 Corinthians 6; Romans 8

Thank you, Father, that you foreknew me, and you predestined me to be yours and to be conformed to the image of your son and my Lord, Jesus Christ.

Through Christ, I would become one of your many children. You predestined me, you called me, you justified me, and you glorify me.

You are for me, so nothing can prevail against me. You freely give me everything I need. Through Christ there is no condemnation for me. No one can bring a charge against me, because you, Father, have justified me.

My Lord Jesus is seated at your right hand, Father, and he daily makes intercession for me. I am yours, bought with a price of divine sacrifice, therefore, nothing can separate me from the love of Christ, my Lord, and Savior, and elder brother.

How Dark

Acts 9; Ephesians 2

Lord God, thank you for knocking me down, revealing yourself to me, and giving me sight to “see” you as Lord and Savior.

I was fervent in my sin for a long time, but then along the road of life you knocked me from my “high horse”. You showed me how wrong I was. You showed me Jesus as the way, the only way, the truth and the life.

I was astonished, and I trembled at how I had rebelled against you. I saw my sin and how great and dark it was, and I repented and turned away from self and turned to Jesus as Lord and Messiah.

Now I begin to see things as you see them, Father. You have filled me with your Spirit. You have given me sight to see the unseen eternal facts of life.

I realize that I am a chosen vessel of yours. I am your workmanship created in Christ Jesus for good works that you ordained beforehand I would walk in.

Now I rejoice in your salvation, and I walk in fear of you and in the comfort of the Holy Spirit.

Overflows

John 15

Lord Jesus, I am clean through the word you have spoken to me. I abide in you, and you abide in me.

The branch cannot bear fruit on its own. It must abide in the vine. You, Lord Jesus, are the vine, and I am the branch. You abide in me, and I bring forth your holy fruit.

I abide in you, and your words abide in me. I ask for your word and will, and it is done for me. In this living communion, our Father is glorified.

I keep my eyes on your living word, and I abide in your love. Your joy fills me, Lord Jesus, and remains in me and overflows every worldly circumstance.

You chose me, Lord, and ordained me, that I would go and bring forth fruit, fruit that would last. You call me friend, and you make known to me the will and the love of our Father. Thank you for your sweet communion and eternal joy.

The Heavenly Christ

Ephesians 1

Thank you, Father, for grace and peace from you and the Lord Jesus. You are the God of my Lord Jesus, the Christ, and you have blessed me with every spiritual blessing in the Heavenly Christ.

You chose me before the foundation of the world that I would be holy and blameless before you in love. You predestined me to be adopted as your son through Christ according to your good pleasure to the praise of your glory and power and grace filled love.

In all this, you did all that had to be done to make me acceptable in the Beloved, that is in Christ. In Christ I have redemption through his atoning sacrifice and the forgiveness of my sins.

You, Lord Jesus, have made known to me the mystery of God’s will. That with grace he would gather together in one all that were his into you, his Christ.

This grace abounds to me and becomes wisdom and prudence, and through Christ in me, you, Father, work all things according to the council of your will.

Always Before My Eyes

Psalms 16&18

I put my trust in you, Lord, and you preserve me. You, oh God, are my Lord, and my goodness is nothing apart from you. You love me as one of your saints, and you take delight in me.

You, Father, are my inheritance and my cup. I bless you, Lord, and you give me counsel. You instruct me. You are always before my eyes. You are my right hand, and I shall not be moved.

Therefore, my heart is glad. My flesh rests in hope. You will not leave my soul lost. You show me the path of life. In your presence is fullness of joy, and at your right hand are pleasures forevermore.

I love you, Lord. You are my strength. You, oh Lord, are my rock and my fortress and my deliverer. You are my strength in whom I trust. I call upon you, Lord, and I am saved from my enemies.

Both Lord and Christ

Acts 2

Thank you, Father, for saving me from this perverse generation. I gladly receive your word. You granted me repentance, and I turned to you. I was baptized in the name of my Lord, Jesus, the Christ. I have received from you, Father, the gift of your Holy Spirit.

Now I continue steadfastly in the doctrine of your gospel, and I fellowship with other believers whom you have placed me with. We believe together, and we try to meet each other’s needs.

We continue to gather in one accord, and we live in gladness and simplicity of heart, praising God and finding favor with all.

We know, Father, that you raised up Jesus and loosed him from the pains of death, because it was not possible that death could hold him. Let everyone know that you, Father, have made Jesus both Lord and Christ.
