Excellent and Glorious

2 Corinthians 4; Romans 6; 2 Corinthians 4

Father, I am joyfully your bond servant for Christ’s sake. You opened my eyes to the light of the Gospel of the glory of Christ.

I see that Jesus is your son, your Messiah, and that by your spirit dwelling in me, I am alive in your eternal spirit, and I am continually reckoning myself dead to my old fleshy, self-centered ways.

In peace, I have become an earthen vessel filled with your spirit. So your power and person dwell in me and on me and that is excellent and glorious.

Pressures of life come upon me, but I am not crushed. Confusion and foolishness swarm around me, but I am not perplexed. Always I carry about in my body your eternal, living, sovereign spirit, Father.

I know that your spirit, the very Spirit that raised up the Lord Jesus, dwells in me and will raise me up in Jesus and present me to you, Father. This goes on every day while I am in this flesh. So even though outwardly I am wearing away, inwardly I am renewed every day and live in your glory forever.

Steadfast Presence

2 Corinthians 4 &3

Thank you, Father, that in mercy and grace, you have given me a ministry. I am encouraged that I can be used by you to reflect the gospel of the glory of Christ to others.

I do not commend myself, but it is all about Christ Jesus, my Lord, your Messiah, and your people’s Savior. I am now simply your bond servant, Father, for Jesus’ sake. You have caused the light of the knowledge of your glory to shine in my heart and mind, Father.

Your old covenant was glorious; so glorious that the children of Israel could not look steadily at Moses’s face. If this old covenant of death was glorious, how much more glorious is your ministry of righteousness and eternal life.

By your grace and election and call, I have turned to you, Lord, and my eyes are opened to your light in Christ. I know that you are a spirit and that where your spirit is, Father, is liberty.

So now, I, with unveiled face, behold, as in a mirror, the glory of the Lord. I am being transformed into the image of the Lord Jesus from glory to glory by the steadfast presence of your Holy Spirit.

Established and Anointed

2 Corinthians 1; James 1; Colossians 1; 2 Corinthians 2

Thank you, Father, that all your promises are yes and amen through Christ Jesus. To your glory, you have established me in Christ and anointed me with your Holy Spirit.

From you, the Father of Light, I have good and perfect gifts. Through Christ, by your grace, Father, I have salvation and redemption. I have been reconciled to you. I have been bought back from slave to sin, and now I belong to you.

There is no variation or chance that you will change your mind about me. You have placed Christ in me and that is glorious. You have birthed me again by your word so that I am a kind of first fruit of your creation by Christ and with Christ.

Thank you, Father, that you always lead me in triumph in Christ Jesus and that his Spirit in me gives a fragrance of sacrifice that is always pleasing to you. It is the aroma of life leading to life.

All Comfort

2 Corinthians 1; James 1; Romans 8; 2 Corinthians 4

Thank you, Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, for grace and for peace. Bless you, Father, for your mercy through my Lord Jesus Christ.

You, Father, are the God of all comfort. You comfort and encourage me in my tribulations so that I am able to comfort those who are in any trouble with the divine comfort you have placed in me.

Various trials do come upon me. By your grace and your scripture, I know that trials test my faith and produce patience. I work to be led always by your Holy Spirit, Father, so that in faith and wisdom, I can let patience do its perfect work in me, and I can be mature, complete and lacking in nothing.

So, I count my circumstances, even the tough ones, as joy because I know you work in life circumstances to do good in my character and in the character of those you have put in my life.

Your plan is to make me holy, as you, Father, are holy. Your purpose is to conform me to the image of my Lord Jesus Christ. I yield to that purpose and join in to that eternal glory.

Worth It and Trustworthy

1 Peter 3; Ephesians 5

Oh Lord, your requirements for me as a husband are clear. I am to dwell with my wife with understanding and give honor to her as one who is not as strong as me in some areas of spiritual strength (consider: weaker in some ways doesn’t mean she is not more valuable and more precious to God).

It is certain that you, Father, expect me, in the areas where I am stronger, to guard her and value her. Then we come together in the right order and are heirs together of the grace of life, and our prayers reach perfection.

I must love my wife just as Christ also loved the church and gave himself for her. I must live the very word of God before her. I must let the Holy Spirit and the word sanctify and cleanse me to witness to her what sanctification and cleansing look like.

As I become, by your grace, Father, holy and without blemish, not having spot or wrinkle, you will be able to convict and encourage my wife to desire and believe that sanctification is possible and worth it and trustworthy.

Til You Call

Daniel 6 &7; Luke 12; Daniel 10, 11, &12

Father, you are the Living God. You are steadfast forever. Your kingdom cannot be destroyed, and your dominion endures to the end.

You deliver and rescue those who are yours. You work signs and wonders. You delivered Daniel from the mouth of the lions, and you deliver me in every situation.

Father, your scripture tells me that many earthly kingdoms will rise and fall and be replaced by other kingdoms that will rise and fall. The saints of you, the Most High God, will receive and possess your kingdom forever, even forever and ever. It is your pleasure to give me that kingdom.

I must understand and live accordingly. You call me beloved, by your grace and not by my merit, and you tell me not to fear. You fill me with your peace and your strength. I know you and that makes me strong, and I am used by you to carry out great exploits.

Michael, your great angel, watches over me even in these times of great trouble, and I am delivered. I awake to everlasting life, and by your grace, through Christ, I shine like the brightness of the firmament, and you use me, Lord, to turn others to righteousness.

So, I go with you till you call me home. Then I rest till you raise me up to the inheritance that you have set for me.

Humility and Thanksgiving

James 3; Romans 6; James 3 &4

Hallelujah, Father, today I put the wisdom of the world behind me. I reckon myself dead to worldly lust and dead to envy and self-seeking. Now, Father, I have your divine wisdom.

Your wisdom is from above, and it is pure and peaceable, gentle, willing to yield, full of mercy and good fruits, without partiality, and without hypocrisy.

I draw near to you, Father, and you draw near to me. You show me my past when I was a slave to sin. You show me, not to depress me, but to inspire me to humility and to want the joyful life and communion that comes from obedience.

I do lament how selfish and lost I was. It does make me mourn when I see how I hurt folks. It scares me to remember how I rebelled against you, Father. But now, it also makes me thankful to you, Lord, for your patience and mercy to me.

So, I cleanse my hands, and I purify my heart. I accept your grace and receive your forgiveness and your cleansing, and I move on following you carefully in humility and thanksgiving.

Light Dwells with You

Daniel 2; 1 Corinthians 1; Daniel 3, 5, &6

Father, you are God. Blessed be your name forever and ever. Wisdom and might are yours. You change the times and the seasons. You remove kings, and you raise up kings. You give wisdom to your people, and you give knowledge to those with understanding.

You reveal deep and secret things. You know all that goes on. You see in the darkness, and light dwells with you.

I thank you and praise you, Father. You have saved me and put me in Christ. Christ is made wisdom and righteousness for me. In Christ my life has been redeemed.

Truly, Father, you are the God of gods, the Lord of kings. You deliver your people. You deliver yours from the fiery furnace, and you delivered me from bondage to my fleshly lust. There is no other God who delivers like you.

Your signs, oh Lord, are great. Your wonders are mighty. Your kingdom is everlasting, and your dominion is from generation to generation.

Your spirit is in me, and light and understanding and excellent wisdom are in me. You rule the kingdom of men, Lord, and you appoint over it whomever you want. You, Father, hold my breath in your hand, and you own all of me.

I glorify you as God and Savior and Holy Spirit.

Communion and Love

Jeremiah 9 &1; 1 Peter 1; Jeremiah 17

I thank you, Father, that through your scripture and your indwelling spirit, you have given me some understanding and knowledge of you, not just intellectual facts but also personal communion and love from you and for you. I glory in that, Father. I delight in you and your friendship and lordship.

You, Father, exercise loving kindness, judgment, and righteousness in the earth. You knew me before you formed me in the womb. Before I was born, you sanctified me and ordained me as an instrument in your kingdom.

You delivered me from bondage to sin and set me into Christ’s body, the church, to grow, and to root out, and to build and plant, to water and to encourage.

I trust in you, and I am blessed. My hope is in you, Lord, and it is a living hope. I am like a tree planted by the waters. My roots are spread out. I do not fear when the heat comes; my leaf stays green. I am not anxious about “what if”, and I continue to bear fruit.

Safely with You, Lord

Colossians 2; John 3; 1 Corinthians 1; Proverbs 3

Thank you, Father, that by your grace through faith, I have been saved. I am born again. I have been born once of the flesh, and, by the grace of the Lord Jesus, I have been born again by the supernatural filling and power of God the Spirit.

Father, you have made Christ, who now dwells in me, to be wisdom, righteousness, redemption, and sanctification for me. In the process of filling me and transforming me, you have chastened me and corrected me, and I thank you for that, because you love me just as a father loves his child in whom he delights.

So, I am happy and thankful that Christ’s person and wisdom is present in me. I thank you that I have gained understanding. The proceeds of these are better than the profits of silver or the gains of gold.

Nothing I can think of having compares to the benefit of your divine presence in my life and your claim on my life. Through your gift of yourself, Lord, I have length of days and a path of peace. You are eternal life for me.

I keep my eyes on your word, Lord, and I am filled with wisdom and discretion. They are life to my soul. I walk safely with you, Lord. My foot does not stumble. I do not fear. My sleep is sweet. Thank you, Lord.
