All Things

2 Corinthians 5

Father, I see all things in my life are of you. Even when I was given over to self and sin, you were there. You oversaw and orchestrated all the circumstances to break me and bring me to enthusiastic repentance.

Through Christ in me, you reconciled me to you. You did not charge me with my sin. Instead, you charged Jesus, who knew no sin, to be the propitiation for my sin. I became, by your grace and his sacrifice, your holy righteousness, Father.

Now you have given me a ministry of reconciliation to those who are seeking you. I am your ambassador in this lost and chaotic world. You implore the lost, through me and all your saints, to, on Christ’s behalf, be reconciled to you as our God and our father.

New Creation

Galatians 6 &5; 2 Corinthians 5; Galatians 6 &2

Thank you, Father, that in Christ Jesus my past “religious” efforts in this flesh avail nothing. What matters is your new creation in me through the presence and power of your Holy Spirit. Now I live by faith working through love.

For now I am in Christ, and I am a new creation. The old has passed away, and behold, all things have become new. Now I am of God, and I am reconciled to you, Father, through Christ Jesus.

I have nothing to boast about in my own works and everything to boast about in the cross of my Lord Jesus Christ. By Jesus’ cross and love for me, the world is crucified to me, and I am crucified to the world.

For I now see clearly that God is not mocked; whatever I sow is what I will reap. If I sow to my flesh, of the flesh I will reap corruption. If I sow to the Spirit, of the Spirit I will reap everlasting life.

Hallelujah, I have been crucified with Christ; it is no longer I who live, but Christ who lives in me; and the life which I now live in the flesh, I live by faith in the Son of God, who loves me and gave himself for me.

Knowing

Galatians 1 &2

Thank you, Father, for your grace and peace. You sent the Lord Jesus who gave himself for my sins, and he delivered me from this present evil age according to your will, Father. To you be glory forever and ever.

You, Father, called me, through the grace of Christ, to your gospel. It is the gospel that was preached by and written by your apostles and your prophets. It is the gospel I believed when Christ Jesus revealed himself to me.

Throughout my life, you have given me teachers that opened your word to me, and you have put witnesses in my life who lived your gospel in front of me.

From before my beginning, I belonged to you, and when it pleased you, you revealed your son to me. I repented and turned toward you, Father, and began to follow Jesus through your word and communion with your Holy Spirit.

For many years now, I have been your man, knowing that, by your grace, I was justified before you completely and always by Jesus’s life and death and resurrection.

Every Part

2 Corinthians 6

Father, I see your grace all over my life, and I am thankful for it. I do not want to waste your grace, nor take it for granted, nor presume upon your grace.

Now is the time to live with more and stronger faith. In every part of my life I want to be fully yours, Father. In patience and distress and in good times and hard times, I want to be led by your Holy Spirit with sincere love.

I feed on your word of truth, Father, and I am covered by the armor of Christ’s righteousness. I die daily, and yet I live forever. Sometimes I sorrow, and yet I am always joyful. Sometimes I seem to have nothing, and yet now in Christ I possess everything.

My heart is wide open because of your love for me, Father. I am living big and rich in lively communion with your eternal sovereign spirit.

Excellent and Glorious

2 Corinthians 4; Romans 6; 2 Corinthians 4

Father, I am joyfully your bond servant for Christ’s sake. You opened my eyes to the light of the Gospel of the glory of Christ.

I see that Jesus is your son, your Messiah, and that by your spirit dwelling in me, I am alive in your eternal spirit, and I am continually reckoning myself dead to my old fleshy, self-centered ways.

In peace, I have become an earthen vessel filled with your spirit. So your power and person dwell in me and on me and that is excellent and glorious.

Pressures of life come upon me, but I am not crushed. Confusion and foolishness swarm around me, but I am not perplexed. Always I carry about in my body your eternal, living, sovereign spirit, Father.

I know that your spirit, the very Spirit that raised up the Lord Jesus, dwells in me and will raise me up in Jesus and present me to you, Father. This goes on every day while I am in this flesh. So even though outwardly I am wearing away, inwardly I am renewed every day and live in your glory forever.

Steadfast Presence

2 Corinthians 4 &3

Thank you, Father, that in mercy and grace, you have given me a ministry. I am encouraged that I can be used by you to reflect the gospel of the glory of Christ to others.

I do not commend myself, but it is all about Christ Jesus, my Lord, your Messiah, and your people’s Savior. I am now simply your bond servant, Father, for Jesus’ sake. You have caused the light of the knowledge of your glory to shine in my heart and mind, Father.

Your old covenant was glorious; so glorious that the children of Israel could not look steadily at Moses’s face. If this old covenant of death was glorious, how much more glorious is your ministry of righteousness and eternal life.

By your grace and election and call, I have turned to you, Lord, and my eyes are opened to your light in Christ. I know that you are a spirit and that where your spirit is, Father, is liberty.

So now, I, with unveiled face, behold, as in a mirror, the glory of the Lord. I am being transformed into the image of the Lord Jesus from glory to glory by the steadfast presence of your Holy Spirit.

Established and Anointed

2 Corinthians 1; James 1; Colossians 1; 2 Corinthians 2

Thank you, Father, that all your promises are yes and amen through Christ Jesus. To your glory, you have established me in Christ and anointed me with your Holy Spirit.

From you, the Father of Light, I have good and perfect gifts. Through Christ, by your grace, Father, I have salvation and redemption. I have been reconciled to you. I have been bought back from slave to sin, and now I belong to you.

There is no variation or chance that you will change your mind about me. You have placed Christ in me and that is glorious. You have birthed me again by your word so that I am a kind of first fruit of your creation by Christ and with Christ.

Thank you, Father, that you always lead me in triumph in Christ Jesus and that his Spirit in me gives a fragrance of sacrifice that is always pleasing to you. It is the aroma of life leading to life.

All Comfort

2 Corinthians 1; James 1; Romans 8; 2 Corinthians 4

Thank you, Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, for grace and for peace. Bless you, Father, for your mercy through my Lord Jesus Christ.

You, Father, are the God of all comfort. You comfort and encourage me in my tribulations so that I am able to comfort those who are in any trouble with the divine comfort you have placed in me.

Various trials do come upon me. By your grace and your scripture, I know that trials test my faith and produce patience. I work to be led always by your Holy Spirit, Father, so that in faith and wisdom, I can let patience do its perfect work in me, and I can be mature, complete and lacking in nothing.

So, I count my circumstances, even the tough ones, as joy because I know you work in life circumstances to do good in my character and in the character of those you have put in my life.

Your plan is to make me holy, as you, Father, are holy. Your purpose is to conform me to the image of my Lord Jesus Christ. I yield to that purpose and join in to that eternal glory.

Worth It and Trustworthy

1 Peter 3; Ephesians 5

Oh Lord, your requirements for me as a husband are clear. I am to dwell with my wife with understanding and give honor to her as one who is not as strong as me in some areas of spiritual strength (consider: weaker in some ways doesn’t mean she is not more valuable and more precious to God).

It is certain that you, Father, expect me, in the areas where I am stronger, to guard her and value her. Then we come together in the right order and are heirs together of the grace of life, and our prayers reach perfection.

I must love my wife just as Christ also loved the church and gave himself for her. I must live the very word of God before her. I must let the Holy Spirit and the word sanctify and cleanse me to witness to her what sanctification and cleansing look like.

As I become, by your grace, Father, holy and without blemish, not having spot or wrinkle, you will be able to convict and encourage my wife to desire and believe that sanctification is possible and worth it and trustworthy.

Til You Call

Daniel 6 &7; Luke 12; Daniel 10, 11, &12

Father, you are the Living God. You are steadfast forever. Your kingdom cannot be destroyed, and your dominion endures to the end.

You deliver and rescue those who are yours. You work signs and wonders. You delivered Daniel from the mouth of the lions, and you deliver me in every situation.

Father, your scripture tells me that many earthly kingdoms will rise and fall and be replaced by other kingdoms that will rise and fall. The saints of you, the Most High God, will receive and possess your kingdom forever, even forever and ever. It is your pleasure to give me that kingdom.

I must understand and live accordingly. You call me beloved, by your grace and not by my merit, and you tell me not to fear. You fill me with your peace and your strength. I know you and that makes me strong, and I am used by you to carry out great exploits.

Michael, your great angel, watches over me even in these times of great trouble, and I am delivered. I awake to everlasting life, and by your grace, through Christ, I shine like the brightness of the firmament, and you use me, Lord, to turn others to righteousness.

So, I go with you till you call me home. Then I rest till you raise me up to the inheritance that you have set for me.
