For Being There

Matt.11&Heb.4

I have come unto you, Lord Jesus. You have revealed the father to me and my soul is at rest. Jesus, you are the Lord of the Sabbath. Jesus, you are my Sabbath.  I have received you as my savior and lord. You are my righteousness. I am saved by your grace and obedience, and not by any work of my own.  You are the word of God and you are life and action; you are sharp to divide the people of God from the people of the enemy; you pierce my heart and soul and bring conviction and repentance; you show me the thoughts and intentions of my heart, and show me the errors and the victories.  Nothing is hidden from your sight.

You are, therefore, my great high priest. You are the son of God. I hold fast to that confession. You were tempted in every way and yet did not sin.  With confidence I draw near to your throne of grace to receive mercy and find grace for today. Thank you, Lord Jesus, for being there.

Confidence In Your Messiah and Word

Hebrews 3&2

Father, today I consider (think on) Jesus, the apostle and high priest of my confession. Jesus was faithful to all you appointed for him to do, father. He is worthy of all glory; of more glory than Moses, as much as the builder of the house has more glory and honor than the house itself.  Moses was faithful as a servant, but Jesus, the Christ, is faithful over God’s house as a son.  I am a part of that house. You call me your son, and Jesus calls me, “brother “.  Today I hear your words, Lord, and my heart is soft and open to obedience to you.

Jesus had to be made like me in every respect so that he may become a merciful and faithful high priest in your service, heavenly father, to make propitiation for my sins.  Because he himself has suffered when tempted, he is able to help me in my temptations. By your grace, heavenly father, I am filled with the gift of faith. I draw close to you.  I am aware of the deceitfulness of sin. Sin is a liar. I believe you, father, and put my confidence in your Messiah and your word.

Delivered From Slavery

Hebrews 2

Heavenly father, I see Jesus who for a little while was made a little lower than the angels, crowned now with glory and honor because of suffering death so that, by your grace, father, he might taste death for everyone. Now you have crowned him with glory and honor and put everything in subjection under his feet; you have left nothing outside of his control.

For it is fitting, father, that to bring many sons to glory you should make the founder of our salvation perfect through suffering.  For the Lord Jesus who sanctifies and we who are sanctified, all have one source: you, our God and father!  That is why the Lord Jesus is not ashamed to call me his brother.  Since, therefore, I shared flesh and blood, Jesus himself, likewise partook of the same things, that through death he would destroy the one who has the power of death, that is, the devil, and deliver me from the lifelong slavery of the fear of death!

A Sure And Steadfast Anchor

Hebrews 1,2,&6

You, Lord Jesus, laid the foundation of the earth in the beginning, and the heavens are the work of your hands; they will perish, but you remain; they will all wear out like a garment, like a robe you will roll them up, like a garment they will be changed.  But you, Lord, are the same and your years will have no end. You sit at the father’s right hand while he makes your enemies a footstool for your feet.

Therefore, I pay close attention to your gospel and to your word of salvation. I do not drift away. I hold fast to the confidence I have in you as the Christ. You are my hope. I have tasted the goodness of the word of God.  I have experienced the presence of the Lord with me in the spirit of God. I have been converted from living in the flesh to a new man, to a vessel with the spirit of God dwelling in me. I have full assurance of my hope in Christ Jesus. I have faith in your propitiation as a sure and steadfast anchor for my soul.

Long Ago

Hebrews 1

Long ago at many times and in many ways you spoke to us, father, through your prophets, but in these days you speak to me by your son, my Lord Jesus, your Christ.  You have appointed him heir of all things; through him you created this world. He is the radiance of your glory, father, and the exact imprint of your nature, and he upholds the universe by the word of his power.

He made purification for my sins and sat down at the right hand of your majesty, father. He is superior to the angels, and you have given him the most excellent name. You call him your, “begotten son “. You say, “let all my angels worship him “.  You say, “his throne is forever and ever.  The scepter of uprightness is the scepter of his kingdom”.  He loves righteousness and therefore, you, father, have anointed the Lord Jesus with the oil of gladness beyond all his companions.

Your Loving Kindness

Father, your goodness and loving kindness are apparent to me. You have saved me; not because of my works but according to your own mercy. You saved me by the washing of regeneration, and the renewal of your Holy Spirit, whom you poured out on me richly through Jesus Christ, my Savior.  Since I am justified by his grace, I am an heir according to the hope of eternal life. For your grace appeared to me, father, bringing salvation for me and for all those that are yours. Your grace trained me to renounce ungodliness and worldly passions, and to live a temperate life; an upright and godly life in the present age as I wait on my blessed hope, the appearing of the glory of my great God and Savior, Jesus the Christ.

He gave himself for me to redeem me from all lawlessness and to purify me for himself, so that, I would be a man of his own possesion who is zealous for good works, able to help others in urgent need and fruitful in the eternal and divine things of God.

Make Me Worthy

I’ll give thanks to you, father, for claiming me as your son, and for giving me the gift of faith. I pray now that that faith would grow abundantly in me, and that my love for you and for others would increase every day.  Fill me, Holy Spirit, and take charge of my thoughts and beliefs that I will be steadfast and faithful in all of the trials and afflictions that may come my way. Give me your power and presence so that I will stand and endure in ways that please you.

For I know there is coming a day when the Lord Jesus is revealed from heaven with his mighty angels and flaming fire; inflicting vengeance on those who do not know God and on all those who do not obey God’s gospel. They will suffer the punishment of eternal destruction away from the presence of the Lord and away from the glory of his might when he comes on that day to be glorified in his saints, and to be marvelled at by all who have believed, because of the preaching and testimony of the word of God.

Sanctified Completely

I Thes. 1,2,3&5

Thank you, father, for granting me repentance and saving my soul from hell. Thank you that, by your grace, I have turned to you, father, and left idols and self to serve you, the living and true God, and to wait for your son, my Lord, Jesus the Christ, who  you raised from the dead; who delivers me from the wrath to come.  I receive your word, not as the word of men, but as what it really is, the word of God; living and breathing, cutting and changing, filled with divine grace and life.

Father, today make me increase and abound in love for others. Establish my heart blameless in holiness before you; speak to me and through me to admonish the idle, to encourage the faint hearted, to help the weak, and to be patient with all. Today, by your grace and in communion with your Holy Spirit, and I seek to do good; I rejoice always; I pray without ceasing; I give thanks in all circumstances. I do not quench your spirit, father. I welcome your preaching. You, the God of peace, sanctify me completely.

Destined For Salvation

I Thess. 4&5

Hallelujah, father, fill me today that I will walk in ways that please you. I thank you that my sanctification is your will for me.  Take charge of me today, Holy Spirit, that I will live in holiness and honor. Today, by your grace, I aspire to live a quiet life and to mind my own business, and to work with joy with my hands;  that I may walk properly with all that are around me, and that I may lack nothing in my life.

Your day will come, Lord Jesus, like a thief in the night. Even though I don’t know exactly when, I will not be totally surprised for I am a child of light, a child of day; of that day. I do not sleep as others do, but I keep awake and I’m sober minded.  I put on the breastplate of faith and love, and the sure hope of salvation is my helmet. Father, you did not destine me for wrath, but praise God, you destined me for salvation.

Strivings Cease and Peace Prevails

Lord, I humble myself before you today. You are God; God of heaven above and earth below. I acknowledge and take heart in that. I draw near to you today. Thank you that you draw near to me.  Thank you, Lord, for calling me and choosing me; for cleansing me and transforming me. My life here in this flesh is just a mist that appears for a little time and then vanishes away; but the new life that you have given me is eternal and is always with you and in you.

Lord Jesus, I praise the father that you are made wisdom, righteousness, sanctification, and redemption for me. This is not earthy unspiritual wisdom, but your wisdom is pure and peaceable, gentle and open to reason, full of mercy and good fruits, impartial and sincere.  Out of your wisdom a harvest of righteousness is sown in peace by those who are yours. Strivings cease and peace prevails.
