The Place of God Is Glad

Psalms 46; Hebrews 4; Psalms 46

Father, I bow before you. I am still before you. I am still and I know that you are God. You are exalted in the earth.

You, the Lord of hosts, are with me. You, the God of all, the only true God, are my refuge. You, father, son and Holy Spirit are my refuge and strength. You are very present with me.

By your grace and your justification, I can come boldly unto your throne of grace and there obtain mercy and find your grace to help me in time of need.

Therefore, I do not fear, though the earth be shaken, though the waters be troubled, though the heathen rage, though all the fabric of society and prudence seem torn, despite all that “news” I see:

There is a river, the streams whereof shall make glad the city of God. That is the holy place of God, my father. You, father, are the most high God; the only true God. You, father, are in the midst of the city and your city shall not be moved. This earth shakes and people rage, but the place of God is glad, holy and at rest.

My Beloved

Phillipians 3

Thank you, Christ Jesus, that you have made me your own. Now I haven’t got it all together, and I am not already made perfect (yet), but one thing I do; I forget what lies behind me and I strain forward to what lies ahead.

I press on toward the goal for the prize of the upward call of God, my father, in Christ Jesus. Let those who are mature agree with me and we press on together. And for those who think otherwise, I leave it to you, father, to reveal your gospel to them.

I keep my eyes on those who walk in good and true doctrine. My citizenship is in heaven and from it, I await a savior, the Lord Jesus Christ. He will transform my lowly body to be like his glorious body by his divine power.

That power, Lord, enables you to do all that you promised to do. Therefore, I stand firm in you, my lord, and, my beloved.

Stand Firm

Romans 6; Phillipians 2; John 1

Lord, I come to you today in the name of Jesus, my Lord and Savior. Fill me today, Holy Spirit, and take charge of my heart and mind; that my thoughts would be the very thoughts and intentions of Jesus, the Christ.

I pray today that I will do all things without grumbling or disputing; that today I would be your child, father, blameless and innocent, without blemish in the midst of a crooked and twisted generation, among whom your divine presence would shine out of me as a light in the world.

I pray that the light of the life of God that abides in me would shine in the darkness, and that the darkness cannot overcome that light.

Today, I walk by your spirit, father, and I do not gratify the desires of my flesh. I am lead by God, the Spirit, and I am not under the law of sin and death. I belong to Christ and I have crucified the flesh with its passions and desires.

It is for freedom Christ has set me free and in that freedom I stand firm.

In Christ Jesus, My Lord

Psalms 144, 145, 146 & 147; Romans 12

I am happy, heavenly father, because you are my God and Jesus is the Lord of my life. You, father, are gracious and full of compassion, slow to anger and great in mercy.

You, father, are good to all, and your tender mercies permeate all your works. You, oh Lord, are righteous in all your ways and gracious in all your works.

I call on you and you are always near me. You hear my cry and you save me. My hope is in you, Father, Son and Holy Spirit. While I live I will praise you, Lord.

You opened my eyes when I was blind, Lord. You raise me up when I was bowed down. You healed my brokenness and bound up my wounds.

You renewed my mind and transformed me into your child; no longer slave to sin and to the world’s pattern of living. But now, born again in Christ; healed delivered and set free; justified by your grace and glorified by your presence in me.

You, oh Lord, are my hope and peace. A very present person in every breath I take. Nothing can separate me from your love, Father, which is in Christ Jesus, my Lord.

According to God

I Peter 3&4; Romans 6; II Cor. 5

Hallelujah. Thank you, Lord, that by your grace I am born again. I am a new creature in Christ. I refrain my tongue from evil and stop my lips from speaking guile.

I turn from evil and I do good. I seek peace and pursue it. Your eyes, Lord, are upon me and your ears are open to my prayers.

Today, I sanctify you, Lord Jesus, in my heart. Make me ready to give a defense to any that ask, for the hope that is in me, with meekness and fear.

Lord Jesus, you suffered for me in your flesh. Arm me with your mind and thoughts and will, so that I reckon myself dead to my flesh and alive in your spirit.

Then I will no longer live the rest of my time in the flesh for the lust of men, but instead I will live my life for the will of God, my heavenly father.

For I have spent enough of my past lifetime living as a slave to my lust. Henceforth, by your grace and provision, Lord Jesus, I will live according to God in the spirit.

The Lord From Heaven

1 Corinthians 15

Thank you, Father, that through my Lord Jesus, the Christ, I have victory over death, hell and the grave.

By your grace and redemption power my body is sown in corruption and raised in incorruption. It is sown in dishonor, it is raised in glory. It is sown in weakness, it is raised in power.

The spiritual does not come first, but rather the natural, and after that the spiritual. The first man was of the earth, made of dust; the second man is the Lord from heaven. As I have borne the image of the man of dust, I shall also bear the image of the Heavenly Man.

Flesh and blood cannot inherit the kingdom of God; nor does corruption inherit incorruption. But, at the time appointed by you, heavenly father, in the twinkling of an eye, we shall all be changed.

Your trumpet will sound and the dead will be raised incorruptible. For corruptible must put on incorruption, and mortal must put on immortality.

Instead

I Thessalonians 5,3&4; Romans 12,8&6

Thank you, Father, that you did not appoint me to wrath, but instead you appointed me to obtain salvation.

By your power and presence in me, through Jesus Christ, you have established my heart blameless in holiness before you. My sanctification is your will and plan.

You, the God of Peace, sanctify me completely and my whole spirit, soul and body are preserved blameless at the coming of my Lord Jesus Christ.

In the meantime, I am transformed by the renewing of my mind. My character is conformed to the image of the Lord Jesus. I’m no longer conformed to the pattern of this world. Instead, I am filled with the spirit of the God of Peace. I am led by God, the Spirit, and no longer led by the lust of my flesh.

Instead, I aspire to lead a quiet life, and to mind my own business, and to work with joy with my hands. That I may walk properly, with all that are around me, and that I may lack nothing in my life.

“Humble” Pride

Ed’s opinion

When one says, “I am nothing special.” It can be a truly spiritual understanding, but there is a potential humanistic perversion to be avoided.

This statement, without sincere recognition of the greatness of God in our life, becomes a lie and a cover-up or excuse to actually be self-centered. It can be a tip-off of idolatry with some aspect of “me, myself or I” being the idol.

First off, I can say the words, but at the same time be very much concentrated on “me”. Thinking about how everything affects me, and makes me feel, and waiting on others to prove to me, over and over, that I am special.

What’s going on in this perversion is I am saying humble sounding words, but my reality is that my feelings and interpretations are the center of my spiritual universe.

A second deception of this perversion is I say, ” I’m nothing special”, and I demonstrate the truth of that thought by not trying very hard and basically living a poor me, pity me lifestyle. This is still a very self-centered gospel even though it sounds humble.

Special

Romans 8; 2 Cor 4; 1 Peter 2

I want to say I’m nothing special, and, in my renewed mine, I know that is true. Except, in a way, by the very presence of God, I am special.

It is not my intellect or physical ability, and certainly not my moral past, that makes me special, but rather, it is the understanding that you, father, are present in my mortal body by your Holy Spirit. That makes me special.

You are busy building and maintaining in me your very presence, and your presence is glorious. So, it is not me that is special, but your presence in me is very special.

In fact, your presence is glorious and divine. So, I am special because you chose me, justified me, filled me, and are transforming and converting me.

Physically I am an ordinary clay jar, but I am filled with the treasure, the very person of Almighty, holy and loving God. In my flesh I’m nothing special, but in your kingdom, I am a living stone being placed in a vast eternal temple where you, Father, Son and Holy Spirit are worshipped, served and adored.

Savior, Lord and God

Romans 9&10

By God’s grace and providence, I have attained to righteousness, even the righteousness of faith. I believe your word, father, therefore, Christ is the end of the law of righteousness for me.

This is the righteousness that comes by faith. The righteousness of Faith speaks this way,” the word (of the life) is near me even in my mouth and in my heart.”

I confess with my mouth and I believe in my heart all that you tell me, father, of Jesus as your Messiah and my Lord.

I believe Jesus was born of Mary, according to the scriptures; that he lived a sinless life pleasing to you; was arrested, tried and crucified; dead and buried, and on the third day he arose according to the scriptures.

He was raised by your Holy Spirit, appeared to hundreds of witnesses for several days and then was raised up into the sky. He sits at your right hand, father, where he daily makes intercession for me, as his enemies are made a footstool for him as Savior, Lord, and God.
