Born Again

I Peter 1&2

I have been born again; not of perishable seed but of imperishable through the living and abiding word of God. The word of God remains forever. This is the good news that has been preached to me.

I am one of the chosen race, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a person of God’s possession, that I may proclaim the excellencies of God who has called me out of darkness into his marvelous light.

New Way of the Spirit

Romans 7

I have died to the law through the body of Christ, and I belong to another. I serve God in the new way of the Spirit.

Apart from the law sin is dead. I know that the law is spiritual, but I am of the flesh sold under sin. I do not understand my own actions for I do not do what I want, but I do the very thing I hate. It is no longer I who do it, but sin that dwells within me.   Nothing good dwells in my flesh. I have the desire to do what is right, but not the ability to carry it out.

When I want to do right, evil lives close at hand. I delight in the law of God in my inner being. I see in my members another law waging war against the law of my mind and making me captive to the law of sin. Who will deliver me from this body of death?

Thank you, Heavenly Father, that I have been delivered from the flesh through Jesus, the Christ, my Lord and Savior.

A Greater Law

Romans 8

I thank you, Father, that by your grace I am in Christ and there is no condemnation for me because the law of the Spirit of Life in Christ Jesus has set me free from the law of sin and death.  You, Father, have done what the law could not do.

By sending your Son in the likeness of sinful flesh, you, Father, have condemned sin in the flesh and fulfilled the righteous requirement of the law in all who walk according to the Spirit and not according to the flesh; for to set the mind on the flesh is death, but to set the mind on the Spirit is life and peace. Those who are in the flesh cannot please God.

The Spirit of God dwells in me. I belong to Christ. I not in the flesh but in the Spirit.  The Spirit is life because of Christ’s righteousness. The Spirit of him who raised Christ from the dead dwells in me and gives live to my mortal body.

Look What God Has Done

Romans 12

In view of your mercies, Father, I present my body today a living sacrifice, holy and acceptable to you. I am not conformed to this world, but I am transformed by the renewing of my mind, and I discern what your will is for me, Father.

I do not think more highly of myself than I ought to think, but I think with sober judgment. I rejoice in hope, I am patient in tribulation, and I am constant in prayer.

I do not repay evil with evil. So far as depends on me I live peaceable with all. I do not avenge myself; I leave vengeance to the wrath of God. I am not overcome with evil, but I overcome evil with good.

Gladly and Thankfully

Luke 15&14

Lord God, my merciful father, I was lost, and now I am found. I was dead, and now I am alive again. You and all of heaven rejoice because, by your grace, I have come back home to you, great God.

All that you have is mine. I am back as your son. I am covered by your righteousness and shod with your love. I am a joint heir with my elder brother, the Lord Jesus Christ.

I deserve none of this mercy. I am not worthy. I am humbled by your love and patience. I receive your forgiveness and reconciliation with humility and constant thanksgiving.

Thank you, Father, Son, and Holy Spirit for bringing me to my senses and for granting me repentance. I have come home gladly and thankfully. I forsake all. I take up my cross daily and follow you, Lord Jesus.

You give a great supper, father, and you invite many people, and with joy I attend now and forever.

The Son of God Has Come

I John 4&5

I have come to believe and to know the love you have for me, Heavenly Father. Your love is perfected in me. There is no fear in love, but perfect love casts out fear.   I love because I realize you, Father, first loved me.

I have been born of God. I believe that you, Lord Jesus, are the Christ. I keep my eyes steadily on your word, Lord.  This is the victory that overcomes the world; my faith (i.e. the seed God has given me, and the light and life that is in the words of my Lord and my Heavenly Father).  I have been born of God and by your grace, Father, I do not keep on sinning.  God the Spirit dwells in me and protects me and the evil one cannot touch me.

Jesus, the Son of God, has come and has given me understanding so that I know God, my Father, and Jesus his son. I am in Christ, and he is the true God and eternal life.

Restored & Established

1 Peter 5&4

You, father, are the God of all grace. You have called me to your eternal glory in Christ. You, yourself, restore, confirm, strengthen, and establish me. To you, great God, be the dominion forever and ever.

I humble myself before you, father. Without you I am lost and helpless in the spiritual battle, but with you as my God, in Christ, I am sober minded and watchful.

I am able to resist the wiles and temptations of the adversary. I cast all my cares on you, Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, for I know that you care for me.

Today, I reckon myself dead to my flesh and alive to your Spirit, father. In times past I lived as the lost live, living in sensuality and worldly passions. But now I suffer in the flesh so as to live the rest of my time in the flesh for the will of you, Almighty God.

Your gospel was preached to me, and by your grace, I heard it. Now I live in your spirit; the way you would have me live.

Divine, Eternal Joy

John 14&15; James 1

Holy Spirit, you dwell in me. You are sent to me as a gift from God, my father, in the name of Jesus. You teach me all things, and you bring to my remembrance all the word of Jesus.

Through your presence I have the assurance of Jesus’s peace: a divine supernatural peace. My heart is not troubled, and I am not afraid.

I abide in Christ, and Jesus, the Christ, abides in me. He tells me all these things, so that I will have his eternal joy, and so that that joy will fill me.

Thank you, Lord, that through your word you have grafted your joy into me. It is a divine, eternal joy that never fades away, and it is sovereign over all of the world’s reports.

Now, Lord Jesus, your joy lives in me eternally. It grows and fills me until my joy is full and overflows.

I Can Know

1 Corinthians 2; John 15

Holy Spirit, good morning and good day. Fill me today and show me all the things of God, my father, and Jesus, my brother, that I need to see. Show me the amazing unimaginable things that God has prepared for me.

I have received you, Holy Spirit, as a gift from God, my father, so that through your testimony and presence I can know the things that have been freely given to me from God.

Jesus tells me that he has spoken the word of God to me in order that his joy would remain in me, and so that my joy would be full.

So I am just a branch, Lord Jesus, and you are the vine, but by God’s grace, I do abide in you. Your word abides in me and cleans me. I abide in you, Lord Jesus, and your spirit fills me, and I bear the fruit of God: fruit that lasts. Fruit that brings life to me and to those around me.

The New Has Come

2 Corinthians 5; Romans 6&7

Hallelujah, I am in Christ, therefore I am a new creation. The old has passed away, behold the new has come. All this is from God, my father, through Christ.

I have a new nature, a divine nature. For now he dwells in this old fleshy body. But each day I reckon myself dead to my flesh and alive in God’s Spirit.

I have died to the law of sin and death through the body of Christ, so that I now belong to Christ Jesus, my Lord. He is my Lord and Savior, and he has been raised from the dead in order that I may bear the fruit of God.

By your life, Lord Jesus, I am released from the law so that I serve in the new way of the Spirit and no longer in the old way of a written code.

By your grace, Lord Jesus, I have a new nature. Now for a short time my new nature is incarcerated in this old flesh. So sometimes I do not do the things I want to do, and sometimes I do the very things I don’t want to do.

But now I realize it is no longer I who do it, but sin that dwells in me. For I know that nothing good dwells in me, that is in my flesh. But in my new nature I do delight in the law of my Lord, and I am delivered from this body of death by the life and resurrection of Jesus Christ, my Lord.
