New Song

Psalm 40

Lord, you drew me up out of a horrible pit, out of the miry clay, and you set my feet upon the rock. You steadied my steps and established my goings.

You, father, have put a new song in my mouth, a song of praise to you, my God.

Therefore, I am not too concerned about what may happen tomorrow. You, Almighty Father, are the same everlasting one who cares for me today, and you will take care of me tomorrow and every day. Either you will shield me from the suffering, or you will give me unfailing strength to bear it.

I am at peace. I put aside all anxious thoughts and imaginations, and I say continually, “The Lord is my strength and my shield; my heart has trusted in him, and I am helped. He is not only with me, but in me, and I in him.”

The Glory in Me

Romans 8

By the Spirit of God in me, I put to death the deeds of the body, and I live. All who are led by the Spirit of God are the sons of God. I have received the spirit of adoption as a son, by which I cry Abba, father.

The Spirit himself bears witness with my spirit that I am a child of God, and if a child, then an heir, heir of God and fellow heir with Christ, provided I suffer with him in order that I may also be glorified with him.

The suffering of this present time is not worth comparing with the glory that is to be revealed in me. The whole creation waits with eager longing for the revealing of the sons of God. The Spirit of God helps me. The Spirit intercedes for the saints according to the will of God.

I know that all things work for my good because I love God, and I’m called according to his purpose. I am predestined to be conformed to the image of God’s son in order that he may be the firstborn of many brothers.

Born Again

1 Peter 1&2

I have been born again; not of perishable seed, but of imperishable through the living and abiding word of God. The word of God remains forever. This is the good news that has been preached to me.

I am one of the chosen race, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a person of God’s possession, that I may proclaim the excellencies of God who has called me out of darkness into His marvelous light.

New Way of the Spirit

Romans 7

I have died to the law through the body of Christ, and I belong to another. I serve God in the new way of the Spirit.

Apart from the law sin is dead. I know that the law is spiritual, but I am of the flesh, sold under sin. I do not understand my own actions for I do not do what I want, but I do the very thing I hate. It is no longer I who do it, but sin that dwells in me.

Nothing good dwells in my flesh. I have the desire to do what is right, but not the ability to carry it out. When I want to do right, evil lives close at hand. I delight in the law of God in my inner being.

I see in my members another law waging war against the law of my mind and making me captive to the law of sin. Who will deliver me from this body of death?

Thank you, Heavenly Father, that I have been delivered from the flesh through Jesus, the Christ, my Lord and Savior.

A Greater Law

Romans 8

I thank you, father, that by your grace I am in Christ and there is no condemnation for me because the law of the Spirit of Life in Christ Jesus has set me free from the law of sin and death. You, father, have done what the law could not do.

By sending your son in the likeness of sinful flesh, you, father have condemned sin in the flesh and fulfilled the righteous requirement of the law in all who walk according to the Spirit and not according to the flesh; for to set the mind on the flesh is death, but to set the mind on the Spirit is life and peace. Those who are in the flesh cannot please God.

The Spirit of God dwells in me. I belong to Christ. I am not in the flesh but in the Spirit. The Spirit is life because of Christ’s righteousness. The Spirit of him who raised Christ from the dead dwells in me and gives life to my mortal body

Look What God Has Done

Romans 12

In view of your mercies, father, I present my body today a living sacrifice, holy and acceptable to you. I am not conformed to this world, but I am transformed by the renewing of my mind, and I discern what your will is for me, father.

I do not think more highly of myself than I ought to think, but I think with sober judgment. I rejoice in hope, I am patient in tribulation, and I am constant in prayer.

I do not repay evil with evil. So far as depends on me I live peaceable with all. I do not avenge myself. I leave vengeance to the wrath of God. I am not overcome with evil, but I overcome evil with good.

The Son of God Has Come

1 John 4&5

I have come to believe and to know the love you have for me, Heavenly Father. Your love is perfected in me. There is no fear in love, but perfect love casts out fear. I love because I realize you, father, first loved me.

I have been born of God. I believe that you, Lord Jesus, are the Christ. I keep my eyes steadily on your word, Lord. This is the victory that overcomes the world; my faith (that is the seed God has given me, and the light and life that is in the words of my Lord and my Heavenly Father).

I have been born of God and by your grace, father, I do not keep on sinning. God the Spirit dwells in me, and protects me, and the evil one cannot touch me.

Jesus, the son of God, has come and has given me understanding, so that I know God, my father, and Jesus, his son. I am in Christ, and he is the true God and eternal life.

In Your Glory

1 Peter 2

I come to you today, father, as a living stone. I thank you that you chose me, and that I am precious in your sight. By your grace and presence in me, you build me up into your spiritual house.

I am part of your royal priesthood, created to offer up spiritual sacrifices acceptable to you, father, through Jesus Christ.

I believe on Jesus. I believe he is your Messiah and my Savior and Lord. To me he is precious. He is your chief cornerstone. By your choice, I am one of your people. I am a citizen of your holy nation.

I am created to proclaim praise to you, father. I was once lost and an enemy of yours, but now I have obtained mercy. You have called me out of darkness into your marvelous light.

Grace and peace are multiplied in me as I enjoy communion with you, father. I abound in thanksgiving and thrive in your glory.

Kept

1 Peter 1

Thank you, father, that by your grace you foreknew me, and you elected me to be sanctified by your Spirit for obedience and for cleansing by the sacrifice of the Lord Jesus.

Your grace is on me, and your peace is multiplied in me. Blessed are you, my God, and the father of my Lord Jesus, your son and your Christ.

Through Christ’s perfect life and the toning sacrifice, I have been born again into a living hope proven by his resurrection. I have an inheritance incorruptible and undefiled that does not fade away reserved in heaven for me.

I am kept by your sovereign power, father, through faith for salvation which will be fully revealed in your perfect time.

In these things I rejoice greatly though for a short while I may be grieved by various trials. These trials prove the genuineness of my faith.

In everything I believe in Jesus Christ. I give him praise, honor, and glory. By faith I receive the salvation of my soul. I rejoice in that salvation with joy inexpressible and full of glory.

I Have Returned

1 Peter 2&3

Lord God, thank you that you called me out of darkness into your marvelous light. I was once lost, but now, I am your person, father. Now by your grace, through Christ Jesus I have obtained mercy.

I abstain from fleshly lust. I am in this world for a time, but I am no longer of this world. I am just a sojourner and pilgrim passing through; following in my Lord’s footsteps.

I, like a sheep, had gone astray, but now, praise God, I have returned to the shepherd and overseer of my soul. Now, father, I have the mind of Christ, and I attend to the thoughts and intents of your will and word.

I dwell with my spouse with love and understanding. I give honor to her. We are heirs together of the grace of life.

I have compassion for others. I am tenderhearted and courteous. I seek to bless others knowing that that is what I’m called to do, and that in that calling I inherit a blessing.
