For My God

Heb 12

Today, father, I think about Jesus my Lord. How he endured such hostility from sinners and how there remains today such hostility against the gospel from so many.  That is the power of the gospel; it is meant to separate, so I do not grow weary or faint hearted in my struggle with sin and in my perception of society dealing with Jesus.

I regard with appreciation and expectation your discipline, father. I thank you for caring for me to discipline and reprove me. You are treating me as a son. I am subject to your discipline, father, and thankful for your love and your perfect discipline.  Sometimes your discipline hurts or embarrasses but it yields the peaceful fruit of righteousness to me as it trains me. Therefore, I lift up and stand up and act like a man and follow my Lord.  What is wrong or ungodly with me will be put into order and healed. I receive with joy your day to day grace and share in your holiness, father.

My Soul Is Preserved

Heb 10

Lord Jesus, you have offered once for all a sacrifice for sins and by that single sin offering you have perfected all of us who are yours. God, the spirit, bears witness to me saying, “this is the covenant I have made with you. I put my laws on your heart and I write them on your mind. I remember your sins and your lawlessness deeds no more.” Where there is forgiveness of these, there is no longer an offering for sin.

Therefore, I have confidence to enter the holy places by the blood of Jesus by the new and living way that he has opened for me through the curtain, that is his flesh.  Since I have a great high priest over the house of God I draw near with a true heart in full assurance of faith with my heart sprinkled clean from an evil conscience and my body washed with pure water.  I hold fast the confession of my hope without wavering for he who promised is faithful. I know my Lord is coming again for me. I do not shrink back. I have faith and my soul is preserved.

With Me and In Me

I Cor. 3 & John 14

I am God’s temple because his Holy Spirit dwells in me. I am holy because God’s  spirit is holy and God’s spirit dwells in me! This is not a boast about me. It is just god’s way of saving and sanctifying me, and of glorifying himself. I was lost in sin and self,  but now, by god’s grace, I am called, chosen and justified. There is a new man dwelling in me who is divine and who lives holy and pleasing to God.

This is all a sovereign, supernatural gift of God. I am a new creation by the power of God and because of the love of God. I boast in nothing except the cross of my Lord Jesus, by which the world has been crucified to me and I have been crucified to the world.  I love the Lord, and I keep my eyes on his word, and the father gives me the spirit of truth who is with me forever. I know him for he dwells with me and is in me.

Great and Terrifying

Deut. 10

Father, you are my God. In your grace and by your spirit, I fear you, I walk in all your ways. I love you. I serve you, my God, with all my heart and with all my soul, and I keep your commandments and statutes. To you, Lord God, belong the heavens, and the earth with all that is in it. Yet, you have set your heart in love for me. You chose me to be yours.

You are the God of gods and the Lord of lords. You are great and mighty and awesome. I am a sojourner here in this time and you love the sojourner. I fear you with a reverent, holy fear. You are the Lord, my God; present with me as father and son through the Holy Spirit who dwells in me now and will never leave me.  I serve you and hold fast to you as you hold fast and never let me go. You are my praise and you are my god.  You have done great and terrifying things .

The New Way

Romans 6&7

Today I consider myself dead to sin and alive to God in Christ Jesus. Sin, therefore, does not reign in my mortal body to make me obey its passions. I do not present my members to sin as instruments of unrighteousness, but instead, today, I present myself to God as one who has been brought from death to life. Sin has no dominion over me! I present my members as slaves to righteousness.

I am set free from sin and have become a slave to God. The fruit from that relationship, that position, leads to sanctification and eternal life.  The free gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus, my Lord. I have died to the law through the body of Christ so that I may belong to Jesus, who has been raised from the dead, in order that I bear the fruit of God.  Now I am released from the law, having died to that which held me captive, so that I serve in the new way of the Spirit and not the old way of the written code.

Satisfied With You, Father

Heb 12; Col. 3; Ps. 63

By your grace, Lord, I will endure the suffering set before me and live beyond the shame of this fleshly life by keeping my eyes on the joy of your presence and the promise of a future forever with you, Lord Jesus.

I seek those things above where you are seated at the right hand of our father. I set my heart on things above and not on the things of the earth, for I am dead and my life is hidden with you, Lord Jesus, in God.  When you, Lord, who are my life, appear, I will appear with you in glory.

You are my God. I seek thee; I thirst for thee; I long for thee, in a dry and thirsty land. I have seen your power and glory in salvation. I’ve tasted the sweetness of your presence. Your love is better than life.  My soul is satisfied with you, father!

Preach To Me

Holy spirit, good morning, take full charge of me; open my understanding of the Scriptures. Thank you, Lord Jesus, that you suffered for me and thank you, father, that you raised Jesus, the Christ, from the dead.  Preach repentance and remission of sin to me always!

I believe Jesus is the word. I believe the word is from the beginning, the word is with God, the word is God, the word became flesh and dwelt among us.  Those of us that were drawn by God saw the word. We saw that he was life and light. We preferred the light over the darkness. We received Christ as Lord and Savior.

I believe that Jesus is the One sent by God, the father.  I feast on the word of God. I am born again, by god’s grace.

Bought Back

I John 5

Thank you, father, for your grace to me and for the gift of faith! In faith I love you, father, with my whole heart and mind and soul and strength, and I love my neighbors as I love myself. I keep my eyes on your commands, and in them find out how much and how completely I am loved.  I see your determination to bring me back to you. I see Jesus’ love for you and his love for me. I believe Jesus is the Christ and he bought me back from slavery to sin.

In him I am dead to sin and now raised up to eternal life.  In Christ I have overcome this world and I am hidden with Christ, free from bondage to sin and fear of judgment. Instead, I know that I am loved perfectly by you, Almighty God. You are the one and only true God. By that faith I have overcome the world.

Enriched

I Cor. 1

I give thanks always, father, for your grace that is given to me in Christ Jesus. I am enriched in every way in Jesus, the Christ; in all speech and knowledge. I am not lacking in any gift that you have for me, father.  Your spirit sustains me to the end, guiltless in the day of my Lord Jesus Christ. I was called into Christian fellowship by you, father, and you are faithful to keep me and guard me and guide and gift me.

I pray that we would have agreeable fellowship in all of your churches; that there would be no divisions but rather all the children of God would be united in the same mind and the same judgment.  The word of the cross is a folly to those that are perishing, but to your people it is the power of God.

Steadfast

Lamentations 3

Praise you, father! Your steadfast love never ceases. Your mercies never come to an end; they are new every morning; great is your faithfulness to me, oh Lord. You are my portion. I hope in you, father, son and Holy Ghost. I wait up on you, and you are good to me. I seek you and you answer.  You show your self divine on my account.

You never cast me off, Lord. Sometimes there is grief but through every moment you have compassion for me according to your promises and according to the steadfast love you have for me; an abundant unconditional love.  You have a perfect, living love given to me through your grace, heavenly father. While I was still in sin and foolishness you loved me. Now that I am yours, you love me. Hallelujah!
