Obedience and Faith

1 Corinthians 9&10

Father, my desire, my aim, is to run the race you set before me in faith; to obtain the prize of your good pleasure.

I seek an imperishable crown. I fight with faith and your word. I discipline my body and bring it into subjection to your way and your word.

I have been baptized into the Lord Jesus. I have eaten your spiritual food and drunk your spiritual drink. I have drunk from the Spiritual Rock, and that Rock is you, Lord Jesus. You are my food and drink, and now, with you, I never thirst.

I am filled with and led by your Holy Spirit, Lord, and I do not lust after evil things. I do not worship idols. I flee sexual immorality. I do not murmur or complain. I am humble. I know it is easy to get prideful, and pride will trip me to fall.

Now, filled with wisdom from your spirit and your word, I know that no temptation will come to me that is not common and recognizable. And I know, Father, that you are faithful, and you love me, and with every temptation, you will make a way for me to escape and obey you.

I will be able, by your grace and mercy, Lord, to bear the test and respond with obedience and faith.
