Jesus is crowned with glory and honor because of the suffering of death, so that by the grace of God he might taste death for everyone. He of him and by whom all things exist, brought many sons to glory, and as the founder of my salvation was made perfect through suffering. For he sanctifies; and we who are sanctified all have one source. That is why he calls me brother. He says, “behold, I and the children God has given me.”
Because I share in flesh and blood, Jesus himself likewise partook of the same things that through death he might destroy the one who has power of death, that is the devil, and deliver me from slavery of the fear of death. He helps me. He was made like me in every respect so that he might become a merciful and faithful high priest in the service of God, our father, to make propitiation for my sins. He is able to help me when I am tempted because he himself was tempted.
