Your Presence, Lord, Assures Me

Romans 8; John 16; Romans 8; Colossians 1; Romans 8

Father, it is written that for your sake we are killed all day long. We are accounted as sheep for the slaughter. So, I understand that in this world I will have tribulation, but I am of good cheer because I am in Christ, and Christ has overcome this world.

In fact, in all these things I am more than a conqueror through Christ Jesus who loves me. Nothing and no one can separate me from Jesus’s love: not persecution or distress, nor tribulation or fear.

For I know Christ dwells in me and that it is glorious. Your presence in me, Lord, assures me that neither death nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor powers, nor things present, nor things to come, nor height, nor depth, nor any other creature, shall be able to separate me from your love, father, which is mine in Christ Jesus, my Lord.

Justified Freely

Romans 3

Faith does not nullify the law, rather faith upholds the law. The whole world is held accountable to God by the law. Every mouth is silenced because we are unable to keep the law. Through the law we become conscious of sin.

But now, praise God, you, father, reveal to those who are yours a righteousness provided through Christ apart from the law. You make this righteous way known to us, and your word and your prophets testify to its truth.

Your righteousness, father, comes to me through faith and belief in Jesus as your Christ and as my Lord and Savior. This way of faith is the same for everyone.

There is no other way for all have sinned and fall short of your glory, father. However, even so, I am justified freely by your grace through faith in the redemption that came by Christ Jesus.

I Live to Declare

Psalm 118; John 14; Psalm 118

I give thanks to you, Lord God. You are good, and your mercy endures forever. I call on you, Lord, and you answer me, and you set me in abundant places. You are on my side, Lord, so I do not fear. Man can do nothing to me that you do not allow.

You take my part in situations, and I find favor with other people. I put all my trust and confidence in you, Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.

Many people and principalities are against you and your people, father, but that does not matter. All their machinations do not matter. You will thwart their plans and destroy them.

You are my strength and my song, oh Lord. You are my salvation. I have eternal life by your grace and power. I live to declare your works, father.

You have provided a gate for me to enter to you. Jesus is the way, the truth, and the life, and I come to you, father, through Jesus, my Lord and Savior.

He is the stone the builders rejected, but he is your polished, perfect stone of the corner. This is your doing, and it is marvelous in my sight.

Perfect Intercession

Romans 8; 2 Peter 1; 1 Corinthians 6

Thank you, father, that you foreknew me, and that you gave me revelation and an unction to love you. Now I recognize that all the events and episodes in my life are arranged by you to conform me to the image of your son.

You predestined me for this transformation; then you called me; then you justified me; then you glorified me by filling me with your presence.

You clearly state that you are for me. Therefore, nothing and no one can succeed against your will being perfected in my life. You delivered up your own son for my redemption. So, I can be sure that you will freely give me everything pertaining to life and godliness.

No charges can prevail against me because it is you, father, who justifies me. No condemnation can attach to me because Jesus has paid for my sins, and he is seated at your right hand, father, making perfect intercession for me.

So, I belong to you. I have been bought with a price. I am no longer my own, and nothing can change that assurance.

According to the Will of God

Romans 8

Holy Spirit, all the hardship of this present life is not worthy to be compared with the glory of your presence in me, and the glory that will be revealed to me in the day of the Lord. In fact, the whole creation eagerly awaits the revealing of the sons of God.

For now the whole creation is subject to futility, but in your time, father, the creation will be delivered from the bondage of corruption into the glorious liberty of the children of God. Even now I groan within myself eagerly waiting for the redemption of my body.

So, I am saved in this hope. I can’t see it yet, but I believe it and eagerly wait on it with perseverance. During this time you, Holy Spirit, help me in my weakness.

Even when I don’t know what to pray, you, God the Spirit, make intercession for me with empathy beyond my knowledge. You, Good Spirit, make intercession for me according to the will of God, my father. Thank you for your glorious presence in me and for your communion with me.

Your Pleasure and My Joy

Romans 8

Thank you, father, that by your grace I no longer walk according to the flesh, but now I am born again by your spirit, and I live according to your spirit. The very spirit of God now dwells in me.

Christ is in me, and my body is dead because of sin, but my spirit is alive forever because of Christ’s righteousness. The very spirit that raised Jesus from the dead dwells in me. You, Holy Spirit, give life to my mortal body.

By your spirit, father, I put to death the deeds of my body, and I live in Christ. I am led by you, Holy Spirit, so I know I am God’s child. You, Holy Spirit, bear witness to me in diverse and special ways, so that I know that I am God’s child. Since I am God’s child, I know that I am an heir of God and a joint heir with Christ.

I will be tested in some ways as Jesus was tested, and I will overcome these tests by your presence in me, Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, and I will be glorified for your pleasure and my joy.

My Righteousness

Romans 8

Thank you, father, that you called me and put me into Christ Jesus. There is therefore now, no condemnation for me for I am in Christ. Through Christ Jesus the law of the spirit of life has set me free from the law of sin and death.

You sent your son in the likeness of sinful man. He became the sin offering, and so he condemned sin and sinful man, and he fully met the righteous requirements of the law in and for me.

Now, by your grace, father, I am born again, and I no longer live according to the sinful nature, but I live according to what God, the Spirit who dwells in me, desires. My mind is renewed, and my thoughts are led by you, Holy Spirit, and I dwell in life and peace.

Christ is in me, and my body is dead because of sin, yet my spirit is alive forever, because of Jesus, my righteousness.

Joined

Romans 6,7,8,12,&7

I know that I have been baptized into Jesus’ death. So, my old man is buried with him into death, and now I walk in a new life. I have become dead to the law of sin and death through the sacrifice of Jesus, and now I’m joined to you, father, who raised Jesus from the dead.

Now I serve you, father, in the newness of the spirit. Your Holy Spirit fills me with a new man, and I delight in your laws, father.

So now, I have two natures, old and new. I realize that nothing good dwells in my old fleshy nature. Sometimes I do not do the good I want to do, and, in fact, sometimes do the very evil that I don’t want to do.

So sin still dwells in my mortal body, but by your grace, father, that is no longer me. For I am delivered from this body of death through Jesus Christ my Lord.

By your gift of salvation, father, through Christ, I am called, justified, and sanctified. My mind is renewed, and with my mind I serve you, father.

Everlasting

Romans 6

Thank you, father, for opening the eyes of my understanding so that I now know that I am a slave to the one I obey either sin leading to death, or obedience to you, father, which leads to righteousness.

Thank you, father, that though I was once a slave to sin, by your grace I heard your gospel and believed it in my heart, and I began to obey your doctrine, and I was set free from sin, and I became a slave to your righteousness.

Yes, I once presented my members as slaves to uncleanness with determination, but now, praise God, I present my members as slaves of righteousness for holiness with even greater joy and enthusiasm.

For I remember the fruit I got from being a slave to sin. It was heartbreaking and disgusting, and the end of it all was death.

But now I am set free from sin, and I have become a thankful slave in your household, Lord. Now I have the fruit of holiness and the sure hope of everlasting life.

United

Romans 5&6

Thank you, father, that your grace reigns in my life through the righteousness of Jesus Christ, my lord, to eternal life- abundant life. For I am united together with Jesus in the likeness of his death, and so I shall also certainly be united with him in the likeness of his resurrection.

For I know that my old man was crucified with Christ, that the body of sin in me would be done away with, so that I am no longer slave to sin.

Now, since I have died with Christ, I believe I also live with him, knowing that Christ, having been raised from the dead dies no more. Death no longer has dominion over him.

He died to sin once for all, but the life that he lives, he lives to God. Likewise I reckon myself dead indeed to sin, but alive to God in Jesus Christ, my lord.
