Vengeance

2 Thessalonians 1 & 2

Lord Jesus, when you are revealed from heaven with your mighty angels, you will, with flaming fire, take vengeance on those who do not know God and on those who do not obey your Gospel. These are punished with everlasting destruction from your presence and from the glory of your power.

When you come in that day, you will be glorified and admired among all those who believe. Before that day, there will be a falling away, and the man of sin will be revealed. He is the son of perdition, and he opposes and exalts himself above all that is called God or that is worshiped, so that he sits as god. He claims to be god.

Even now the mystery of lawlessness is at work, only you, Holy Spirit, restrain it until God, our father, removes your restraint. Then the lawless one will be revealed for a time. After that, you, Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, will consume the lawless one with the breath of your mouth and the brightness of your coming.

For now, Lord Jesus, you love me and give me hope. You comfort my heart and establish me in every good word and work.

Completely

1 Thessalonians 5

Thank you, Lord, that I no longer live in darkness. Instead, by your grace and salvation, I am a son of light and a son of the day.

I keep watch, and I am sober. I put on the breastplate of faith and love. My mind is covered by the sure hope of salvation. I am so thankful that you, Father, did not appoint me to wrath, but instead you chose me to obtain salvation through my Lord Jesus Christ.

Today I am careful to follow you, Holy Spirit. I pursue what is good both for myself and for others. I do not render evil for evil. I warn those who are unruly. I comfort the faint-hearted. I uphold the weak, and I am patient with all.

I rejoice always. I pray without ceasing, and in everything I give thanks for I know this is your will for me. I receive with joy your Holy Spirit, and I welcome gospel preaching.

I test all things by your word, and I choose that which is good.

You, Father, the God of Peace, sanctify me completely. My whole spirit, soul, and body is preserved blameless for the coming of my Lord Jesus Christ.

Called By God

1 Thessalonians 2; James 1; 1 Peter 1; 1 Thessalonians 3 & 4

Hallelujah, Father, I pray today that I would walk worthy of your love. Thank you for calling me into your kingdom and glory.

I have received your word, Father, and welcomed it, not as the word of man, but as your divine living word. I receive, with meekness, your word ingrafted in me which has saved my soul.

I am joyfully born again by your incorruptible seed which is your word. Your word works powerfully in me, and my mind is renewed.

Today, Holy Spirit, fill me and take charge of me that I would increase and abound in love for you and for others. Establish my heart blameless in holiness before you. Sanctify me today, Lord, that I would possess my vessel in sanctification and honor not in the passion of lust. For I am called by God to holiness, and I am filled with you, Holy Spirit.

She and I

Ephesians 5

Thank you, Lord Jesus, that you love me and have given yourself for my salvation, as an offering and a sacrifice to God, our father. Now I live in your light, Lord. I walk as a child of light.

I learn what things are pleasing to you, Lord, and I walk in those things. You are wisdom for me, Lord, and through that wisdom, I know what your will is.

I am filled with your spirit, and I speak to you and to others in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs. I sing and make melody in my heart to you, Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. I give thanks always, for all things, to you, Father, in the name of my Lord Jesus Christ.

I love my wife as Christ loved the church. I give myself – my time, attention, and desires – for her. I pray your word for her and me that she and I will flourish and be filled with your glory, Lord.

Given for Me

Ephesians 4 & 5

Thank you, Lord Jesus, that you teach me. I have heard you. I put off my old man who reverts to deceitful lust. I’m renewed in the spirit of my mind, and I put on the new man who is born in me and created according to God, in true righteousness and holiness.

My actions and decisions are yours, Holy Spirit. I tell the truth. I may get angry, but I do not sin. I do not hold on to the anger nor give the enemy a foothold in my mind and spirit.

I do not covet or steal. I do my work with attention and quality. I am generous. No corrupt communication comes out of my mouth, but only word that ministers grace to the hearer and builds up.

I am sealed with the Holy Spirit. You are with me at all times and forever, Lord, so I try hard not to disappoint you. I put away all bitterness and clamor and evil talk. I pray that I am kind and tenderhearted.

I am quick to forgive others as you, oh Lord, have forgiven me. I walk in love as you, Lord Jesus, have loved me and given yourself for me.

Free from Futility

Ephesians 4

Thank you, Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, for teaching me, equipping me, and edifying me to be converted and useful to you in your kingdom. By your grace, I have grown up in all things into Christ Jesus.

I am joined together into the body in the unity of faith and in the knowledge of Jesus, your son, Father. I am mature and filled with you, Holy Spirit. I’m no longer childish in my thoughts; no longer confused and easily deceived in my doctrine.

Instead, I know your gospel. I know you and stay in communion with you, Father, through your word and by your spirit who dwells in me.

I speak the truth in love, and I grow up in all things into Christ. My thoughts are your thoughts, Father, and I have your divine understanding.

I walk in your light with a new heart. I have compassion and patience, and I pursue holiness. I live in your love, Father, free from the futility of this world.

Above, Through, and In

Ephesians 4

Hallelujah, Father, I belong to you. I am filled with your presence and led by your Holy Spirit. Now, by your grace, I walk worthy of your calling on my life. I walk in humility, gentleness, and patience.

I bear with others with the love you have placed in me. I endeavor to keep the unity of your spirit in all my relationships and to live in peace.

You, Father, have placed me in your body, which is your church. In you, Father, through Christ, there is one body and one Spirit. You are the one true hope, and you are my hope. There is one calling, one Lord, one faith, one baptism, one God and Father of all. You, Father, are God. You are above all and through all and in all who are yours.

In Christ you give each of yours grace and spiritual gifts in abundant living measure. In that way, we are useful instruments in your kingdom for the equipping of the saints for the work of the ministry and for the edifying of the body of our Lord Jesus Christ.

Through Your Spirit

Ephesians 3

Thank you, Father, that I am encouraged daily by your word and your spirit with me and in me. I bow before you, Almighty and only God. You are the Father of my Lord Jesus Christ.

Grant me today according to the riches of your glory that I would be strengthened with might through your spirit in my inner man, that Christ would dwell in my heart and rule in my heart through faith.

Today, Lord Jesus, by your presence in me, I am rooted and grounded in love, and I am able to comprehend with all your saints the width and length and depth and height of the love of Christ.

I know your awesome love for me and for all those who are yours, Lord Jesus, and I am filled fully with your person and power.

Through your power that works in me, you do in me and for me provision and character that is exceedingly abundantly beyond all I can even think of or ask for.

I Know You

1 John 1; 2 Peter 1; Romans 8; Psalm 23

Thank you, Father, for eyewitnesses to your great love and to the person of your salvation, Jesus your Christ.

The Apostle John testifies to seeing and touching and hearing Jesus and to knowing that Jesus is the word of life. John came to know that eternal life is with you, Father, and that it manifested to the Apostles through the life and resurrection of Jesus, God in the flesh.

Peter didn’t believe because of clever fables. No, he writes that he is an eyewitness to the Majesty of Jesus. He saw Christ Jesus receive honor and glory from you, Father, on the holy mountain. He heard your voice from heaven proclaim that Jesus is your beloved Son in whom you are well pleased.

I have the witness of your Holy Spirit to me that I am now your child. Through your spirit and your word, Father, you have communed with me and witnessed to me your presence and power.

You brought me to repentance. You birthed a new man in me. Now you lead me into peace and provision. You restore my soul. You anoint me and fill me. I know you.

One with You

Ephesians 2

Thank you, Father, that I have been brought near to you by the blood of Christ Jesus. He is my peace, and he has made me one with you and all those who are yours. Through Jesus’s life and sacrifice and resurrection, I am reconciled to you, Father, and made one with his body, the church.

I am no longer a stranger to you, my great God, but now I am a fellow citizen with the saints and a member of your household, Father, a household built on the foundation of the apostles and prophets, with Jesus himself being the chief corner in whom the whole kingdom fits together and grows into a holy temple to you, Father.

By your grace and call, I am a part of your eternal kingdom. I’m being built into a proper and perfect dwelling place for your Holy Spirit, Father, for your honor and glory and for my peace and joy.
