By and In

Ephesians 1

By your grace and for your purposes, Father, you chose me and determined to “put me in Christ” before the foundation of the world. You moved in my life and flesh in such a way that I would hear the gospel of your salvation, and I would believe your word and find it to be truth.

Through your gift of faith, I would receive Jesus as my savior, and you would fill me with your Holy Spirit, and I would be born from above.

Now, your Holy Spirit witnesses to me and leads me through your word. His presence in me is my guarantee that I belong to you; that I have been bought back from sin by the life of the Lord Jesus; that I am redeemed from death.

You, Father, are glorified by and in my redemption. Thank you for saving me.

Your Grace, Your Gift, and Your Glory

Ephesians 1&2

Father, you made your grace abound toward me in all wisdom and prudence. You have made known to me, and to all who will look, the majesty of your will. It suited your good pleasure to gather together all who were yours, whether Jew or Gentile, and to make us one new people.

You do this by bringing us into faith in Jesus as your Messiah and our Lord. You, through your spirit and your word, show us our sin. You give us a clear understanding of our treason against you.

We did not excuse our ourselves, and instead we confess our sin. You forgive us and cleanse us from all our unrighteousness. You grant us repentance, and we are enabled to turn from our own way and to turn toward your way.

You give us the gift of your Holy Spirit, who births a new man with a divine nature in us. So we have new desires, desires to obey and to serve, desires to be a part of our Lord’s body, the church.

So now, by faith, we, all who you have called and chosen, have redemption through the blood of Jesus, and we have divine righteousness through Jesus’ righteous life. Thank you, Father, for your grace, and your gift, and your glory.

In Due Season

Galatians 6

Hallelujah! I belong to you, Lord Jesus, and I have crucified the flesh with its passions and desires. Daily, I reckon myself dead to my old man and live anew by your spirit, Lord.

Now trying to perfect the flesh availeth nothing, but growing the new creation in me yields everything and everlasting!

This new life is all from you, Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, so there is no cause for boasting from me, except I boast in the cross of my Lord Jesus Christ, by whom the world has been crucified to me, and I am crucified to the world.

Now I live in the peace and mercy of Almighty God. If folks don’t like or believe my doctrine, that’s their problem, because I am sure God has called me, chosen me, justified me, and filled me with his glorious presence.

I am moving on with God. I am trying to live led every moment by the Spirit of God and the word of God.

I set my face toward my savior, and I claim his endurance. I do not grow weary, and I know, in due season, I shall reap. I shall reap everlasting, full joy!

No Limit

Galatians 5

Thank you, Father, for calling me to the liberty that is mine through Christ Jesus, and for choosing me to be saved through faith in Jesus as my Lord. I use this liberty as an opportunity to live in peace and simplicity, and not as an opportunity to indulge my flesh.

In love, I serve you, Father, by serving the “neighbors” you put in my life

Now, by the gift of your Holy Spirit, I walk in your spirit, Father, and I do not fulfill the lust of the flesh. The flesh and the spirit are in conflict with one another.

Sometimes I do not do the things I wish, but I am quick to see my error and to repent, and to go back to being led by your spirit and dead to the passion and habits of my flesh.

Now the works of the flesh are evident. They are unclean and do harm to myself and to others. But the fruit of the spirit is sweet. It is filled with love, joy, and peace. It brings life into my heart, my relationships, and my service.

I can indulge in as much fruit of the spirit as I want. There is no limit to how much divine love and life I wish to enjoy!

No Longer

Galatians 5&4

Hallelujah, Father! I stand fast in the liberty by which Christ has made me free. I am saved by faith in your finished work, Lord Jesus. I am not entangled again in trying to “deserve” salvation because of my obedience to the law.

Now I have a desire to obey the law, because I love you, Lord, and I know you love me, so I want to obey to please you, but I do not have to obey to earn my place with you.

My place with you, Father, is guaranteed. It is bought and paid for by my Lord Jesus, and I am Christ’s through faith in him. So I am a child of promise.

In the fullness of time, you, Father, sent forth Jesus to take on flesh through Mary, and to be born under the law. By his perfect life and atoning sacrifice, Jesus, your Messiah and my savior, has redeemed me from the curse of the law and led me to adoption as your son.

You, Father, have sent forth your Holy Spirit into my heart and birthed a new man in me. Now I am no longer a slave but a son and your heir, Father, through Christ. I cry out to you that you are mine, and you cry out to me that I am yours.

Christ Alone

Galatians 3; Colossians 2&3

Your law, Father, taught me my need for your salvation, for a savior. I could not keep the law perfectly, and so I knew I was cursed by the law if there was not another way back to you.

Praise you, Father, for another way, the only way. Christ has redeemed me from the curse of the law by becoming the curse for me. You, Lord Jesus, bore the punishment that I surely deserved.

Now, by your grace, Father, and by your sacrifice, Lord Jesus, all the blessings of Abraham are mine. I have received the gift of your Holy Spirit, who lives in me and communes with me, in joy and peace and conviction and comfort.

I am led by God, the Spirit. I am born again by your living, eternal spirit, who lives in me and is now my new man.

I have begun my life with you, Father, in your spirit, and I will continue to seek you in your spirit. I will not be bewitched to think I can now perfect myself with works of the law.

My salvation started with faith in the work of Christ Jesus, and it will be completed in faith in Jesus‘s finished work. I am complete in Christ and Christ alone.

Grace of God

Galatians 1; Ephesians 2; Galatians 1&2

Lord Jesus, I have peace from you. You gave yourself for my sins and delivered me from this present age according to the will of God, our father.

By God’s grace, through faith in you as Messiah, I have been born again. Now I am your workmanship, created for good works that you, Lord Jesus, perform through me, as I walk in you.

I keep my eyes on you, Lord, and on your gospel. I study the gospel that is written in your scripture. It pleased you, Father, to reveal your son, Jesus, to me. Now I know that I am justified by faith in Jesus, your Christ, and I am not justified by any work of the law.

For I, through the law, died to the law that I might live to you, Father. I have been crucified with Christ; it is no longer I who live, but Christ who lives in me; and the life which I now live in the flesh, I live by faith in you, Lord Jesus. You love me, and you gave yourself for me. You are the grace of God, and you are my righteousness.

Complete

Philippians 2; 1 Corinthians 4; 2 Corinthians 12&13

Today I glory in you, Father. I bow my knees before you. My tongue confesses that Jesus Christ is Lord, and that you are glorified, Father, in every way. I pay attention to this great salvation you have given me. I take it seriously, and you perfect it in me every day.

You work in me with your spirit and with your word, and you bring my will and my work into perfect agreement with your good pleasure. All this is done by you, Father, so I have nothing that did not come from you.

Without your presence and power, I am helpless in spiritual matters. By your grace, my strength is made perfect in my humility, so I boast in my weakness, because I know Christ’s power fills me, and that makes me strong against sin and foolishness.

I am dead to weaknesses of the flesh and alive by your power, Father. I live with Christ Jesus by your power toward me. I am filled with faith, and Jesus Christ dwells in me. I do things that are honorable, and I live in the truth. You, Father, the God of Love and Peace, are with me always. I am complete in Christ.

Indescribable Gift

2 Corinthians 9&8

Lord God, help me to be generous and accurate with my giving. I want to sow bountifully into the people and ministries that you have ordained for me to serve. I know you love a cheerful giver, so set my heart to be loving, generous, and accurate!

You are gracious, Lord Jesus. You were rich, and for my sake, you poured out, and through your giving, I became rich!

You, Father, have made all grace abound to me so that I always have all sufficiency in all things. I have an abundance for every good work that you have ordained for me to walk in.

You, Father, supply seed to the sower and bread for food. You supply and multiply the seed you want sown, and you cause the increase in the fruit of righteousness.

You enrich all that is yours liberally, and we who are yours abound in thanksgiving. Lead me, Holy Spirit, that I would manage the Father‘s gifts well; that the needs of the saints would be met, and that the word of the gospel would go forth with joy and thanksgiving. Be glorified, Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. Thanks for your indescribable gift.

Perfect Redemption

2 Corinthians 6&5

Father, by your grace and indwelling spirit, I am transformed into your temple, a temple of the living God. You foretell me that you will dwell in me and will walk with me; that you will be my god and that I am your person.

By your decree and choice and power and grace, I am yours. I am born again. It is no longer me, but you dwelling in me. I am sanctified by your truth.

Therefore, I have come out from among the lost. You, Almighty God, are my father, and I am your son.

I am in Christ, and I am a new creation; old things that passed away; behold all things have become new. Now everything about me is of you and from you, Father. You have reconciled me to yourself through Jesus Christ, and you have given me the ministry of reconciliation.

Now I am your ambassador. I implore all, who ask, to be reconciled to you, Father, by faith in Jesus, who you raised up to be the way to your salvation.

He knew no sin, but he became sin for me, and he suffered for sin to be my propitiation that I, through Jesus, could be the very righteousness that you require. Thank you, Father, for my perfect redemption.
