You Do Not Forsake

Ps 138, I John 5:18, I Cor. 6:20

Today, dear Lord, I give thanks to you with my whole heart. I sing your praises. I bow before you, father, and give thanks to your name for your steadfast love and for your faithfulness. I exalt you above all things; your name and your word.

When I call on you, you answer and the strength of my soul you increase. Though you are Almighty God and I am lowly you regard me with love and care. Though I walk in the midst of trouble and trials you preserve my life.  You stretch out your hand and protect me from my enemies.

You bought me with a price. I belong to you, father, and the evil one cannot touch me. Your right hand delivers me.  I know your faithfulness and steadfast love, father. You will fulfill your purpose for me. I will be of the use to you that you formed me for. You do not for sake the work of your hands.

Calmed and Quieted

Ps 130&131

Oh, Lord, you hear my voice. Your ears are attentive to my pleas for mercy. With you, father, there is forgiveness that I may fear you; that I may take my salvation very seriously. I wait for you, Lord.  My soul waits for you, Lord, and in your word I take hope.  I hope in you, Lord.  With you there is steadfast love; with you there is plentiful redemption. You redeemed me from all my iniquities.

Father, I am not proud. My eyes are not raised too high. I do not occupy myself with things too great and too marvelous for me.  Like a child with its mother my soul is calmed and quieted within me. I recognize my complete dependence on you, God, my heavenly father. My peace is you, father. My hope is in you, father, from this time forth and forever more.

Be Still and Know

Ps 43, Ps 127

Heavenly Father, send out your light and truth, let them lead me. Lord, open the eyes of my understanding that I would be accurate in following you. Give me eyes to see and ears to hear exactly what you say and show me.  I do not want to build or watch or move in vain. I want to build where you build and be active only in the places and persons you have for me to be active in. In your revelation and illumination; in your guidance; there is rest.

Today, holy spirit, take charge of me that I would follow you accurately and gladly; that I would be obedient and joyful; that I would walk in faith today and be wholly pleasing to you. Today, by your grace and presence, Lord, I am conformed to the image of the Lord Jesus; my thoughts are your thoughts and my words are the very words of God. My heart is empty of self and filled with the love of God. Father, keep my heart and mind today in Christ Jesus.

Rich In Mercy

Eph 2, Ps 111&112

Father, you are rich in mercy. Because of your great love with which you loved me,even when I was dead in my trespasses, you made me alive together with Christ.  You raise me up with him and seated me with him in the heavenly places in Christ Jesus. I give thanks to you, Lord, with my whole heart.

Your works are great, oh Lord; full of splendor and majesty. Your righteousness endures forever. You are gracious and merciful.  You provide food to those who fear you; you remember your covenant forever. The works of your hands are faithful and just; all your precepts are trustworthy; they are established forever.

You sent redemption to me; holy and awesome is your name. I have wisdom in the fear I have of you. I am blessed because I fear you and I greatly delight in your commandments. My heart is firm, trusting in you, Lord. My heart is steady and I will not be afraid.

For My God

Heb 12

Today, father, I think about Jesus my Lord. How he endured such hostility from sinners and how there remains today such hostility against the gospel from so many.  That is the power of the gospel; it is meant to separate, so I do not grow weary or faint hearted in my struggle with sin and in my perception of society dealing with Jesus.

I regard with appreciation and expectation your discipline, father. I thank you for caring for me to discipline and reprove me. You are treating me as a son. I am subject to your discipline, father, and thankful for your love and your perfect discipline.  Sometimes your discipline hurts or embarrasses but it yields the peaceful fruit of righteousness to me as it trains me. Therefore, I lift up and stand up and act like a man and follow my Lord.  What is wrong or ungodly with me will be put into order and healed. I receive with joy your day to day grace and share in your holiness, father.

My Soul Is Preserved

Heb 10

Lord Jesus, you have offered once for all a sacrifice for sins and by that single sin offering you have perfected all of us who are yours. God, the spirit, bears witness to me saying, “this is the covenant I have made with you. I put my laws on your heart and I write them on your mind. I remember your sins and your lawlessness deeds no more.” Where there is forgiveness of these, there is no longer an offering for sin.

Therefore, I have confidence to enter the holy places by the blood of Jesus by the new and living way that he has opened for me through the curtain, that is his flesh.  Since I have a great high priest over the house of God I draw near with a true heart in full assurance of faith with my heart sprinkled clean from an evil conscience and my body washed with pure water.  I hold fast the confession of my hope without wavering for he who promised is faithful. I know my Lord is coming again for me. I do not shrink back. I have faith and my soul is preserved.

With Me and In Me

I Cor. 3 & John 14

I am God’s temple because his Holy Spirit dwells in me. I am holy because God’s  spirit is holy and God’s spirit dwells in me! This is not a boast about me. It is just god’s way of saving and sanctifying me, and of glorifying himself. I was lost in sin and self,  but now, by god’s grace, I am called, chosen and justified. There is a new man dwelling in me who is divine and who lives holy and pleasing to God.

This is all a sovereign, supernatural gift of God. I am a new creation by the power of God and because of the love of God. I boast in nothing except the cross of my Lord Jesus, by which the world has been crucified to me and I have been crucified to the world.  I love the Lord, and I keep my eyes on his word, and the father gives me the spirit of truth who is with me forever. I know him for he dwells with me and is in me.

Great and Terrifying

Deut. 10

Father, you are my God. In your grace and by your spirit, I fear you, I walk in all your ways. I love you. I serve you, my God, with all my heart and with all my soul, and I keep your commandments and statutes. To you, Lord God, belong the heavens, and the earth with all that is in it. Yet, you have set your heart in love for me. You chose me to be yours.

You are the God of gods and the Lord of lords. You are great and mighty and awesome. I am a sojourner here in this time and you love the sojourner. I fear you with a reverent, holy fear. You are the Lord, my God; present with me as father and son through the Holy Spirit who dwells in me now and will never leave me.  I serve you and hold fast to you as you hold fast and never let me go. You are my praise and you are my god.  You have done great and terrifying things .

The New Way

Romans 6&7

Today I consider myself dead to sin and alive to God in Christ Jesus. Sin, therefore, does not reign in my mortal body to make me obey its passions. I do not present my members to sin as instruments of unrighteousness, but instead, today, I present myself to God as one who has been brought from death to life. Sin has no dominion over me! I present my members as slaves to righteousness.

I am set free from sin and have become a slave to God. The fruit from that relationship, that position, leads to sanctification and eternal life.  The free gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus, my Lord. I have died to the law through the body of Christ so that I may belong to Jesus, who has been raised from the dead, in order that I bear the fruit of God.  Now I am released from the law, having died to that which held me captive, so that I serve in the new way of the Spirit and not the old way of the written code.

Satisfied With You, Father

Heb 12; Col. 3; Ps. 63

By your grace, Lord, I will endure the suffering set before me and live beyond the shame of this fleshly life by keeping my eyes on the joy of your presence and the promise of a future forever with you, Lord Jesus.

I seek those things above where you are seated at the right hand of our father. I set my heart on things above and not on the things of the earth, for I am dead and my life is hidden with you, Lord Jesus, in God.  When you, Lord, who are my life, appear, I will appear with you in glory.

You are my God. I seek thee; I thirst for thee; I long for thee, in a dry and thirsty land. I have seen your power and glory in salvation. I’ve tasted the sweetness of your presence. Your love is better than life.  My soul is satisfied with you, father!
