With Me Forever

John 14

Lord Jesus, I believe you are the Messiah, the one God sent. I believe in you, and through you I believe in God, our father. My heart is not troubled because I know you have room for me in your kingdom.

Even now you are with me. You prepare a place for me, and someday, you will come for me, and you will receive me.

I know that you, Lord, are the way, and the life, and that I have adoption by God, our heavenly father, through faith in you, Lord Jesus.

I love you and believe your word. I keep your word in front of my eyes, and I enjoy obeying your commandments. You have asked the father to send the Holy Spirit to me, and I have asked as well. The father has given me the Holy Spirit, and he is with me forever.

Through your Spirit, you, Jesus, and God, the father, live in me now. You, Lord Jesus, are in the father. I am in you, and you are in me. In that way we have a living, perfect communion. By your very presence I am taught, and encouraged, and empowered, and set free.

Freely Given to Me

1 Corinthians 2&1

Thank you, Holy Spirit, that you reveal to me the wonderful things that my heavenly father has prepared for me. You dwell in me, Holy Spirit. You search my heart, and you know everything about me. You know the things of God for you are God, the Spirit

I no longer receive the spirit of this world, instead I have you, Holy Spirit, filling me and leading me. You, God the Spirit, testify to me that I can know the things that have been freely given to me by God.

In you, Holy Spirit, I can know the heart of God, my father, and I can commune with you, Father, Son, and Holy Ghost everyday all day.

Thank you, Holy Spirit, for your faithful presence in me. By your presence I become wise; not the wisdom of this world, but instead, the wisdom of God in a mystery; the hidden wisdom which God, my father, ordained beforehand for his glory and for my righteousness, redemption, and sanctification.

Your Gospel

1 Corinthians 15

Thank you, father, that your word declares to me your gospel. Your gospel has also been preached to me. By your grace, father, I have received your good news.

I stand on your word as truth and life. I am saved by your word as incorruptible seed. I hold fast to your word, father, and set my faith on all that you promise.

Your word tells me that Jesus, your Christ and my Savior, died as the scriptures say, and that he was buried, and that he rose again on the third day as the scriptures say. He was seen by the apostles and then by over 500 people, most of whom were still alive when your scripture was written and distributed abroad.

James and other apostles saw the risen Christ, and finally Paul saw and heard Jesus risen from the dead. These men testified to the resurrection and were willing to stake their lives on it as fact and on Jesus as the Messiah.

In faith I do the same. I believe Jesus is Messiah. He is my Lord, and I know that you, father, raised him from the dead.

Firm and Deep

1 Timothy 1; 2 Thessalonians 3

Today, father, for those you bring to my mind, I pray grace, mercy, and peace into their lives by your power and presence, Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. I pray they would see, hear, and believe good and true doctrine; they would not be confused by fables or false teaching, but instead, they would receive, and see, and have faith in your divine edification, father.

I pray, Lord, that your word would take firm and deep root in me and in each of those you bring to my mind, and that that deep and living word would bring forth love from a pure heart, and a good conscience, and a sincere faith.

Thank you, father, that you, the Lord of peace, give us peace always in every way. You are with each of us who is yours. Grace upon grace from and with you, Lord Jesus Christ.

Useful

Romans 15

Father, by your grace and presence in me, I bear patiently with the scruples of my fellow believers. My primary aim is to edify others and not just please myself. Even Christ did not act just to please Himself.

Through patience and comfort of the scriptures, I live in hope and share that hope with others. Thank you, father, that you, the God of patience and comfort, grant to me and to those who you have called to be with me, that we would be like-minded toward one another according to Christ Jesus. That we, with one mind and one mouth, glorify you, father, and our Lord Jesus Christ.

You, the God of hope, fill me with all joy and peace through faith so that I abound in hope by the power and presence of your Holy Spirit.

I pray, father, that I will be useful to you as an instrument in your hands to share and to witness your gospel to those whom you put in my way to receive it. I pray that we all come together with each other with joy by your will, father, and that we are refreshed together with you.

Not My Job

Romans 14

Father, give me discernment and understanding for I do not want to get off track regarding fellowship with those believers who differ with me on parts of your gospel doctrine that seem disputable.

It is not my job to judge your servants. You, father, are the master. It is before you only that each of us stands or falls. Indeed, father, it is you alone who makes us able to stand.

For none of us live to himself, and no one dies to himself. For we live to you, father, and when we die, we die to you. Whether we live or die we are yours.

I seek to be fully convinced of right doctrine through your word, and through communion with your Holy Spirit, and through fellowship in your church. Let each of your people do the same. We may then still differ on details, but let us agree on Christ.

So, I do not judge my brother. I do not show contempt for my brother’s faith. For your kingdom, father, is more than disputable details of food, drink, and denominational traditions and opinions.

Your kingdom is righteousness, peace, and joy in the Holy Spirit. I serve Christ in these things and that is acceptable to you, father, and a pleasure to most men. Hallelujah.

No Harm

Romans 13

Today, father, I am led by your spirit, and I am filled with your word. As much as depends on me I will live peaceably with all. I will not seek vengeance, but rather I leave those matters unto you, father. You tell me that vengeance is yours, and you will repay.

If my enemy is hungry I will offer food. If he is thirsty I will offer drink. I’m not overcome by evil, instead I overcome evil with good.

I am subject to governing authorities, for rulers are appointed by your hand, father, and they are not a terror to good works. So, I do what is good. I pay my taxes, and I render to all their due: taxes to whom taxes are due, customs, fear, and honor to whom it is due.

I pay my debts. I attend to love my neighbor; for as I love others I fulfill your will for me, father. Love does no harm.

Now, by your grace and presence in me, Lord, I am awake. Now I live in your salvation. I cast off all works of darkness, and I put on the armor of light. I put on the Lord Jesus Christ, and I make no provision for the flesh to fulfill its lusts.

Into Agreement

Romans 12; 2 Corinthians 5

Thank you, father, for your grace and faithfulness to renew my mind. Your word and your communion with me have made my thoughts come into agreement with your word, and I am transformed.

I am no longer conformed to the pattern of worldly thinking. Instead, I am free of the world and bound to Christ Jesus.

I know that all I have is from you, father, so I think humbly and soberly. I love others with sincerity. I abore evil. I cling to what is good. I seek to honor others as greater than myself.

I want to be of use to you, Lord, like an instrument in your hands. I rejoice in hope. I am patient in tribulation. I am instant and steadfast in prayer. I give to the needs of the saints, and I am given to hospitality.

I bless those that persecute me; I bless and do not curse. I rejoice with those who rejoice, and I weep with those who weep. I try to be agreeable. I associate with the humble. I am not stuck on my own opinion.

Yeehaw, by your grace and revelation, I am a new creature, and it feels good!

Reverently Fearful

Romans 11&12

Father, in humility I consider your goodness and your severity. Without your mercy and righteousness all would be cut off from you. We, your creation, are all branches broken off by sin, but some are grafted back into you through faith. In Christ I stand by your gift of faith.

My salvation is by your grace, so I am not haughty, instead I am reverently fearful. I do not want to disappoint you or fail to enjoy your transforming goodness.

You will fully and finally graft back into your kingdom all those who are yours. “Your deliverer has come out of Zion. You will turn away ungodliness from Jacob. You keep your covenant. You take away the sins of your people, and so all Israel will be saved.”

Oh Lord, I marvel at the depth of your riches, both of wisdom and of knowledge. How unsearchable are your judgments, and your ways are past finding out. For, father, of you, and through you, and to you are all things. To you be glory forever.

In view of your mercies, Lord, today I offer my body as a living sacrifice to you. It is a holy and acceptable sacrifice because I am in Christ. In Christ I am holy as you, father, are holy. Blessed be your glorious name.

Night Watches

Deuteronomy 7; John 14; Hebrews 13; Psalms 63&23

Good morning, father, you are my God. You are Almighty God, the only living God. You are faithful. You keep all your covenants and have mercy on all those who are yours.

You have given me your word. I hold on to your word and your precepts. I keep Jesus and his word in front of my eyes, and my mind is renewed each day.

In all of that you come to me and fill me with your Holy Spirit. You manifest yourself to me, and I commune with you, Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, and you never leave me or forsake me.

While I’m here on this earth you counsel me, and then you take me home to glory. Your loving kindness is better than life. My lips praise you. My soul is perfectly satisfied in you. I praise you with joy.

I meditate on you, father, in the night watches. In the shadow of your wings I have peace, and I rejoice. Your right hand upholds me. I dwell in your house forever.
