Fountain of Life

Proverbs 14

Father, I thank you for your divine wisdom that now fills me through the person of your Holy Spirit. I build my house, my household, and my life now carefully with your leadership. I seek understanding from you in every situation so that I know what to do and what not to do.

There is often a way which seems right to us as humans, but it is not right, and it’s end is the way of death. You fill me with prudence, Lord, and I consider well my steps.

I have a reverent fear of you, Father. I do not want to disappoint you. I am pleased and careful to stay away from evil.

I am happy to help those who are poorer than me. My obedience to you, Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, gives me a strong, steadfast trust in you: in your mercies, in your power, and in your faithfulness.

You, oh Lord, are the place of refuge for my soul in this foolish and nasty world. You, oh Lord, are the fountain of life to me when, all around me, so many are choosing and even promoting death. You are great and mighty, Lord, and you guard over me. Thank you!

Divine, Beautiful, Loving

1 Corinthians 1

I thank you, Father, for your grace which you have given to me by Christ Jesus. I have been enriched in every way by him, in all utterance and knowledge. So, I come up short in no gift as I live daily in the revelation of your presence and character in me, Lord Jesus.

You, Lord Jesus, confirm my salvation and your gracious love for me. Our father has called me into fellowship with you, Lord Jesus, and through you, I am blameless before God, our father.

I am sanctified by you, Lord, and placed as a member in your body, the church. I am joined together with other believers in the same mind and in the same judgment. We may differ on details of faith, but we all agree on the sovereign saving effect of your sacrifice on the cross, Lord Jesus.

The message of your cross, Lord, is foolishness to those who are perishing, but to us who are being saved it is your divine, beautiful, loving power. It stumbles and crushes those who believe in any other power.

Search and Show

1 Corinthians 2

Father, I thank you for the privilege of communion with you through your spirit. Your Holy Spirit reveals your thoughts and will to me. Your Holy Spirit testifies and shows me your love and your provision into my life of things so good that they are beyond my experience and even my imagination.

Holy Spirit, you search me, and you show me what is really in my heart. You show me the inconsistencies that abound in my love for others. You straighten me out. You show me when I am being worldly, and you grant me repentance. You make known to me the things that have been freely given to me by God, my father.

Now, by your presence in me, Holy Spirit, I can test and compare spiritual things. You teach me to discern the things that are going on and determine the real “reality” of circumstances. Through your eternal presence and communion, I have the mind of Christ.

Only Your People

1 Corinthians 1; Colossians 1; 1 Corinthians 1&2; Colossians 1; 1 Corinthians 2

Father, my flesh is weak, but I see in your scripture that no flesh will glory in your presence. Instead, it is Christ who is the glory, and it is Christ in me who is my hope of glory.

Christ in me has become wisdom, righteousness, redemption, and sanctification for me. My faith is not in the wisdom of men but in your power, Father. Your scripture is a demonstration of your wisdom and spiritual power.

Your wisdom seems like foolishness to the world, but the alleged wisdom of the rulers of this age is coming to nothing. It is your wisdom, that is hidden in a mystery, that will prevail, and only your people will see the answer to the mystery which is Christ in me the hope of glory.

For you have written to me that my, “Eye has not seen, nor has my ear heard, nor can I dream of the things you have prepared for me in love”.

In Your Order, Father

John 17, Colossians 1; 1 Corinthians 14

Lord Jesus, you have declared the name of the Father to me. You have shown me the Father, and you have prayed that the love with which the Father loved you would be in me and that you would be in me.

So, I am filled with divine love. A perfect love fills me and now can flow out of me to those around me. Christ is in me and that is glorious.

Thank you, Father, for your love and for the gift of your spirit. Fill me with your word and wisdom that I would speak edification, exhortation, and comfort to all who I speak with. I am zealous to be used by you to edify and encourage others and to be a way of your blessing to your church.

I pray in your spirit, your spirit prays in me, and I also pray with understanding. I sing and muse to you in the Spirit, and I sing to you with understanding.

Thank you, Holy Spirit, that by your lead, I am mature. All that I do is for edification and evangelism, and it is done in your order, Father. You, Lord, are the God of peace.

Divine Peace and Sure Hope

1 John 4; 1 Corinthians 13; 1 John 4

Now, I know, from your scripture and from communion with your Holy Spirit, that I am loved perfectly and unconditionally by you, Father.

Though I may be gifted and generous and do all kinds of godly “service” for you, if I do not have love, as you would define love, I am just a clanging bell, and my service is nothing, and it profits me nothing.

By your grace, Father, led by your spirit, I am patient. I do not envy. I’m not puffed up or rude. I am not easily provoked, instead I am calm, gentle, and a good listener.

I rejoice in the truth. I bear all things. I believe your sovereignty and promises. I have steadfast hope in your kingdom purpose and mercy for me and others. I endure all things with peace and perseverance.

I do not worry about anything, because love, your divine eternal love, is now in me forever through the presence of your Holy Spirit and the living power of your word. Your love in me drives out fear and worry and fills me with divine peace and sure hope.

Abide In Love

1 John 4

Father, your scripture makes it clear that you love me. You love me perfectly not because of some great quality in me, but rather because, by your grace, you chose me to be yours and because real love is in you.

Everyone who loves is born of God and knows God. You manifested your love to me by sending your only begotten son into the world so that I can live through him.

So, this is divine love, not that I loved you, but that you loved me and gave your son to be the propitiation for all my selfish and mean sins. Now, I realize that if you so loved me, I must learn and discipline myself to love others.

You work the love for others into my new nature through your Holy Spirit, who fills me. I prepare myself by repeatedly dying to myself and following your spirit’s lead. The world and my flesh try to draw me back, but I pray and gird up my loins against those worldly desires.

Now, because I am born again, greater is he who is in me than he who is in the world. By the power of your word and through the presence of your Holy Spirit in me, I can love others, and I can abide in your love, Father.

Life Giving Spirit

1 Corinthians 15

Lord Jesus, you have risen from the dead, and you are the first fruits of those who have fallen asleep. Death came by man, and then by you, the Son of Man, came the resurrection of the dead.

For as in Adam all die, even so in Christ all shall be made alive. You, Lord, are the first fruit and after you those who are yours at your coming. Then comes the end when you deliver the kingdom to God, our father.

At that time you will have put all enemies under your feet. The last enemy to be destroyed is death.

The dead are raised to a new body given to us as it pleases God. The fleshy body we had is sown like a seed. What is sown like a seed is not made alive unless it dies. And when you sow, you do not sow the body that you reap. But the new body is in the seed and comes forth after the seed is planted and dies, and it becomes what God has ordained it to be.

Yes, the body is sown in corruption; it is raised in incorruption. It is sown in dishonor; it is raised in glory. It is sown in weakness; it is raised in power. It is sown a natural body; it is raised a spiritual body. Lord Jesus, you are a life-giving spirit.

All Joy and Peace

Romans 15

Lord God, I thank you for the local body of believers that you have placed me in. I pray I will be strong in your spirit and that I will minister to others for their good and for their edification.

I have your heart for hospitality and service. Deliver me from selfishness and laziness for even you, Lord Jesus, did not come just to please yourself.

Father, your Holy Spirit is wisdom in me. Your word is learning for me. Through the patience and comfort of your scripture, I have sweet steadfast hope.

You, the God of patience and comfort, fixed my mind up on the Son of Man so that I, along with all your people, glorify you with one mind and one mouth.

I sing to your name, Father. I rejoice in you. I praise you, and you, the God of hope, fill me with all joy and peace in believing, and I abound in hope by the power and in the person of your Holy Spirit.

Regardless

Romans 14

I do not dispute with other believers over doubtful things. There are gray areas of belief among brothers. We believe different things regarding food, holy days, dress, gifts of the spirit, and methods of worship. I do not want to destroy your work in someone, Father, over a detail.

I want to pursue things that make for peace and things by which each person may be edified. For your kingdom, Father, is not about eating and drinking and religious details. Your kingdom, Father, is about righteousness and peace and joy in your Holy Spirit. All of that is for everyone who believes and receives Jesus as Lord and Savior.

It is not my job to judge another’s servant. To his own master he stands or falls. If he is truly your servant, Father, you will see that he stands victorious regardless of the details of his faith, for he is yours.
