Free from Futility

Ephesians 4

Thank you, Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, for teaching me, equipping me, and edifying me to be converted and useful to you in your kingdom. By your grace, I have grown up in all things into Christ Jesus.

I am joined together into the body in the unity of faith and in the knowledge of Jesus, your son, Father. I am mature and filled with you, Holy Spirit. I’m no longer childish in my thoughts; no longer confused and easily deceived in my doctrine.

Instead, I know your gospel. I know you and stay in communion with you, Father, through your word and by your spirit who dwells in me.

I speak the truth in love, and I grow up in all things into Christ. My thoughts are your thoughts, Father, and I have your divine understanding.

I walk in your light with a new heart. I have compassion and patience, and I pursue holiness. I live in your love, Father, free from the futility of this world.

Above, Through, and In

Ephesians 4

Hallelujah, Father, I belong to you. I am filled with your presence and led by your Holy Spirit. Now, by your grace, I walk worthy of your calling on my life. I walk in humility, gentleness, and patience.

I bear with others with the love you have placed in me. I endeavor to keep the unity of your spirit in all my relationships and to live in peace.

You, Father, have placed me in your body, which is your church. In you, Father, through Christ, there is one body and one Spirit. You are the one true hope, and you are my hope. There is one calling, one Lord, one faith, one baptism, one God and Father of all. You, Father, are God. You are above all and through all and in all who are yours.

In Christ you give each of yours grace and spiritual gifts in abundant living measure. In that way, we are useful instruments in your kingdom for the equipping of the saints for the work of the ministry and for the edifying of the body of our Lord Jesus Christ.

Through Your Spirit

Ephesians 3

Thank you, Father, that I am encouraged daily by your word and your spirit with me and in me. I bow before you, Almighty and only God. You are the Father of my Lord Jesus Christ.

Grant me today according to the riches of your glory that I would be strengthened with might through your spirit in my inner man, that Christ would dwell in my heart and rule in my heart through faith.

Today, Lord Jesus, by your presence in me, I am rooted and grounded in love, and I am able to comprehend with all your saints the width and length and depth and height of the love of Christ.

I know your awesome love for me and for all those who are yours, Lord Jesus, and I am filled fully with your person and power.

Through your power that works in me, you do in me and for me provision and character that is exceedingly abundantly beyond all I can even think of or ask for.

I Know You

1 John 1; 2 Peter 1; Romans 8; Psalm 23

Thank you, Father, for eyewitnesses to your great love and to the person of your salvation, Jesus your Christ.

The Apostle John testifies to seeing and touching and hearing Jesus and to knowing that Jesus is the word of life. John came to know that eternal life is with you, Father, and that it manifested to the Apostles through the life and resurrection of Jesus, God in the flesh.

Peter didn’t believe because of clever fables. No, he writes that he is an eyewitness to the Majesty of Jesus. He saw Christ Jesus receive honor and glory from you, Father, on the holy mountain. He heard your voice from heaven proclaim that Jesus is your beloved Son in whom you are well pleased.

I have the witness of your Holy Spirit to me that I am now your child. Through your spirit and your word, Father, you have communed with me and witnessed to me your presence and power.

You brought me to repentance. You birthed a new man in me. Now you lead me into peace and provision. You restore my soul. You anoint me and fill me. I know you.

One with You

Ephesians 2

Thank you, Father, that I have been brought near to you by the blood of Christ Jesus. He is my peace, and he has made me one with you and all those who are yours. Through Jesus’s life and sacrifice and resurrection, I am reconciled to you, Father, and made one with his body, the church.

I am no longer a stranger to you, my great God, but now I am a fellow citizen with the saints and a member of your household, Father, a household built on the foundation of the apostles and prophets, with Jesus himself being the chief corner in whom the whole kingdom fits together and grows into a holy temple to you, Father.

By your grace and call, I am a part of your eternal kingdom. I’m being built into a proper and perfect dwelling place for your Holy Spirit, Father, for your honor and glory and for my peace and joy.

Even When

Ephesians 2 &1

Thank you, Father, that, out of your rich mercy and because of your great love for me, even when I was rebellious and selfishly dead in my sins and trespasses, you made me alive together with Christ.

In Christ you gave me your Holy Spirit, the spirit of wisdom and revelation. I began to know you personally in your spirit and to know you intellectually through your word.

My eyes were opened, and I began to understand spiritual, eternal things. I enjoyed the hope of knowing that you had called me and that I was yours. And since I was yours, I now had a rich inheritance along with all your saints.

I began to know your power of life. The same mighty power which you worked in Christ when you raised him from the dead. I was included in Christ when I heard your word of truth and believed it.

Then I was marked with a seal, your promised Holy Spirit, who is like a deposit guaranteeing my inheritance until the day you redeem your purchased possession.

All Things

2 Corinthians 5

Father, I see all things in my life are of you. Even when I was given over to self and sin, you were there. You oversaw and orchestrated all the circumstances to break me and bring me to enthusiastic repentance.

Through Christ in me, you reconciled me to you. You did not charge me with my sin. Instead, you charged Jesus, who knew no sin, to be the propitiation for my sin. I became, by your grace and his sacrifice, your holy righteousness, Father.

Now you have given me a ministry of reconciliation to those who are seeking you. I am your ambassador in this lost and chaotic world. You implore the lost, through me and all your saints, to, on Christ’s behalf, be reconciled to you as our God and our father.

New Creation

Galatians 6 &5; 2 Corinthians 5; Galatians 6 &2

Thank you, Father, that in Christ Jesus my past “religious” efforts in this flesh avail nothing. What matters is your new creation in me through the presence and power of your Holy Spirit. Now I live by faith working through love.

For now I am in Christ, and I am a new creation. The old has passed away, and behold, all things have become new. Now I am of God, and I am reconciled to you, Father, through Christ Jesus.

I have nothing to boast about in my own works and everything to boast about in the cross of my Lord Jesus Christ. By Jesus’ cross and love for me, the world is crucified to me, and I am crucified to the world.

For I now see clearly that God is not mocked; whatever I sow is what I will reap. If I sow to my flesh, of the flesh I will reap corruption. If I sow to the Spirit, of the Spirit I will reap everlasting life.

Hallelujah, I have been crucified with Christ; it is no longer I who live, but Christ who lives in me; and the life which I now live in the flesh, I live by faith in the Son of God, who loves me and gave himself for me.

Knowing

Galatians 1 &2

Thank you, Father, for your grace and peace. You sent the Lord Jesus who gave himself for my sins, and he delivered me from this present evil age according to your will, Father. To you be glory forever and ever.

You, Father, called me, through the grace of Christ, to your gospel. It is the gospel that was preached by and written by your apostles and your prophets. It is the gospel I believed when Christ Jesus revealed himself to me.

Throughout my life, you have given me teachers that opened your word to me, and you have put witnesses in my life who lived your gospel in front of me.

From before my beginning, I belonged to you, and when it pleased you, you revealed your son to me. I repented and turned toward you, Father, and began to follow Jesus through your word and communion with your Holy Spirit.

For many years now, I have been your man, knowing that, by your grace, I was justified before you completely and always by Jesus’s life and death and resurrection.

Every Part

2 Corinthians 6

Father, I see your grace all over my life, and I am thankful for it. I do not want to waste your grace, nor take it for granted, nor presume upon your grace.

Now is the time to live with more and stronger faith. In every part of my life I want to be fully yours, Father. In patience and distress and in good times and hard times, I want to be led by your Holy Spirit with sincere love.

I feed on your word of truth, Father, and I am covered by the armor of Christ’s righteousness. I die daily, and yet I live forever. Sometimes I sorrow, and yet I am always joyful. Sometimes I seem to have nothing, and yet now in Christ I possess everything.

My heart is wide open because of your love for me, Father. I am living big and rich in lively communion with your eternal sovereign spirit.
