Whenever You Have Ordained

Isaiah 2

Oh Lord, forgive our country and bring us to repentance. Our people have turned away. They are filled with foreign ways and use soothsayers and unholy guides. They are pleased to be led by foreigners.

Our land is filled with wealth and treasure, but has become a land filled with idols. Many people worship their own selves and the things they have made. Many people bow down to other people as gods or idols. Many people are filled with pride and are haughty.

Your day will come, when you have ordained it, Father, and everything proud and lofty will be brought low. You alone will be exalted in that day, and the idols you will utterly abolish.

People will run and hide in that day as your terror and the glory of your majesty arises upon all this place. You, Father, will arise whenever you have ordained, and you will shake this place mightily.

Casts Out

1 John 3 & 4

Father, I keep my eyes on your scripture. I desire to obey you. I enjoy being obedient. I abide in you, and you abide in me. I believe on the name of the Lord Jesus Christ, and I know Jesus Christ has come in the flesh.

I know your Holy Spirit dwells in me, because Christ is lifted up in my mind and heart. You commune with me with your Holy Spirit and your word, Father. I know I am of yours, Father, and I know that he that is in me is greater than he that is in the world.

I belong to you, Father. I hear from you. I know you, Holy Spirit, the Spirit of Truth. You showed me your love for me, Father, by sending your only begotten son into the world so that I could live through him.

This is love. Not that I loved you, Father, but that you loved me and sent Jesus to be the propitiation for my sins. In this way, love is perfected in me. As Christ is, so am I in this world. There is no fear in this love. Your perfect love, Father, casts out fear.

Walk with You

1 John 1 & 2

Father, you are light, and in you is no darkness at all. I walk in your light, and I have communion and sweet fellowship with you. I live in the knowledge that the sacrifice of Jesus, your son, has cleansed me from all sin.

Now, when I sin or even begin to conceive of sin, I confess that to you, Father. I repent of the action or thought. You, Father, are faithful and just to forgive me of my sins and to cleanse me from all unrighteousness.

I don’t deserve such patience and mercy, but, by your grace, I have it as a gift from you, through my Lord Jesus. Jesus, the righteous, is my advocate with you, Father. He is the perfect, pleasing propitiation for my sins and for the sins of the whole world.

I know that I know you, Lord Jesus, because I love to see, and to obey, and to feast on your commandments. I love your word, Lord. The love of our father is perfected in me. I abide in you, Lord Jesus, and I walk with you.

Full

1 John 1

The Apostle John is an eyewitness to me, Lord. He heard you and saw you. He looked upon your raised body, and he touched you. He knows you are from the beginning, and he knows that you are the Word become flesh.

Through his testimony, I know that eternal, divine life manifests in you. All the Apostles saw it and bear witness to that truth with their writings and with their lives.

They declare these things to me so that I may have fellowship with them, and so that I can have fellowship with you, Lord Jesus, and with God, our father.

John writes that you, Father, are light and that in you is no darkness at all. He tells me that, if I walk in your light, I can have fellowship with other believers and that I have eternal loving fellowship with you, Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.

The blood of Jesus, your son, Father, has cleansed me from all sin, and my joy is full.

Unexpectedly

1 Peter 3

Father, fill me today that I will grow in the grace and knowledge of my Lord and Savior, Jesus, your Christ. Today I’m diligent to seek you and to be found in you, Lord, in peace without spot, and blameless.

I know that you, Father, are the God of time. To you one day is as a thousand years, and a thousand years is as a day. You are not bound by time, and you, and you alone, set your time table.

You are not slack about your timing, but you are merciful to wait on those whom you have called to repentance and salvation.

But “The day of the Lord” is coming. It will come unexpectedly. The heavens will pass away with a great noise, and the elements will melt with fervent heat; both the earth and the works that are in it will be burned up.

Therefore, I seek your holiness and Godliness, Father, and I look for a new heaven and a new earth where righteousness dwells.

See and Remember

1 Peter 1; Colossians 3; 1 Peter 1

In view of all that you have done in me, Lord, to save me and to transform me, I keep my eyes on you now. With your nature dwelling in me, I seek things above and not the things of this earth.

I am diligent to add to my faith virtue, to virtue knowledge, to knowledge temperance, to temperance perseverance, to perseverance godliness, and to godliness, love for the brethren and love for you Father.

These things abound in me, and I am fruitful in my communion with you, Lord Jesus. I can see the truth, and I can remember the deception of the sinful world.

By all of that, I’m even more diligent to make my calling and election sure. I steadily and purposefully pursue your character in me, Lord Jesus, and I do not stumble. You dwell in me and with me, and I see and enjoy glimpses of my life to come in your everlasting kingdom, Lord Jesus, my Savior.

Escaped

1 Peter 1; Romans 12; 1 Peter 1

Thank you, Father, that by your grace, I have obtained the same precious faith as your Apostles. I have your eternal salvation, by the righteousness of Jesus, my Lord and Savior.

Grace and peace are multiplied to me as I come to know both you, Father, as my Heavenly Father and Jesus, as your Messiah, better and more intimately. Now I know your person dwelling in me, and I hear your voice through your Holy Spirit and your scripture.

By your person dwelling in me, I am transformed by the renewing of my mind. Your power in me gives me all things that pertain to life and Godliness through personal and corporate communion with you.

You call me to glory and virtue. You give me exceeding great and precious promises. I am a partaker of your divine nature, and I have escaped the corruption that is in this world through lust.

Armed

1 Peter 4

Father, I spent enough time following the lusts of my flesh. Now, by your grace and in response to your preaching, I reckon myself dead to my flesh and alive in your spirit. I am armed with the same mind as the Lord Jesus Christ. I want to live in your will, Father, to live according to your spirit.

This civilization is racing to an end. I am serious and watchful in my prayers. I am fervent in my love for others. I am hospitable, and I do not grumble.

I am a good steward of the gifts and provisions you give to me. I minister with these provisions to the folks you give to me, with all the ability you bless me with, that in all things you, Father, are glorified through Jesus Christ. To you, Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, be glory and dominion forever and ever.

Prayers Unhindered

1 Peter 2 & 3

Lord, I thank you that, by your grace and the unction of your Holy Spirit, I have returned to you, the Shepherd and Bishop of my soul. Father, give me understanding of my wife that I will be a perfect husband for her.

Lead me, Holy Spirit, that I will meet her needs and guard over her that we can be one together and heirs together of the grace of life; that our prayers would be pleasing and rise to you unhindered.

Give us one mind, Father, that we will have compassion for one another; that we will be tenderhearted and courteous, and not hateful. On the contrary, Father, fill us and convert us that we will bless you and each other.

Father, today, led by your Holy Spirit, I do not speak evil; I speak the truth in love; I do good; I seek peace in all my matters. You watch over me, Lord, and you hear my prayers.

I sanctify the Lord Jesus in my heart, and I meditate on all the reasons for hope that I have from you, Father, through Christ.

A Citizen

1 Peter 2; 1 Corinthians 6

Lord God, I see that in this lost and dying world I am just a sojourner and pilgrim. I am, by your grace, becoming more and more out of step with the fleshy world.

I believe in Jesus as your Messiah, Father, as the one who delivers me from the lost. Jesus is a stone of stumbling to those that are lost, but to me, he is a precious cornerstone.

In Christ, I am one of a chosen generation, part of a royal priesthood, a citizen in a holy nation. I am special to you, Father; set apart to proclaim praises to you. I praise you because you called me out of darkness and into your marvelous light.

I was, at one time, lost and alone, but now, by your mercy, I have become yours. My body is now a temple for your Holy Spirit, who dwells in me, Father. I am no longer my own, because you bought me with your precious price.

Now and forever, I belong to you, Father. I glorify you in my body and in my spirit.
