Your’s, Oh Lord

James 1

It is a joy, Father, to know that you work circumstances and various trials in my life to test and strengthen my faith. I know these things are good for me, even if they are hurtful at first.

The tests work patience in me, and when I, in mature faith, let patience work in me, I am perfected as a man of yours, Father. I am made perfect, complete, and lacking nothing.

I pray for wisdom to know this truth in every situation so that I do not give up or complain. You give me understanding wisdom liberally, and you do not upbraid me for being sometimes slow to catch on to your perfect presence in every detail of my life.

You have given me the good and perfect gift of your eternal, divine salvation. You brought me to life with your word of truth so that I am a kind of first fruit of your creatures.

I lay aside all nasty thinking and all evil lusts. I receive, with meekness and thanksgiving, your word implanted in my heart and mind, and my soul is saved. Hallelujah, I am yours, oh Lord.
