Obedience to the Truth

1 Peter 2&1

Today, Lord Jesus, I continue to entrust myself (my life, my hope, my salvation) to you who judge justly. You bore my sins in your own body on that tree to enable and empower me to die to sin and to live unto righteousness.

By your wounds I have been healed (saved from sin and reconciled to God, our father). I had been straying like a sheep, but now I have returned to you, Lord Jesus, the shepherd and bishop of my soul.

Now by your grace and indwelling spirit, I am part of a chosen race, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people of your own possession, so that I can proclaim the excellencies of you, heavenly father. You who called me out of darkness into your marvelous light.

Now I am in this world but not of it. I am a sorjourner and exile, and able, by my new nature, to abstain from the passions of the flesh that wage war against my soul.

My soul is purified by obedience to the truth (i.e. receiving Christ by faith). I am born again by the living and abiding word of God, the good news that was preached to me.
